"A recent report, released by Technology Market Research company Counterpoint, reveals that Xiaomi has somewhat succeeded in breaking the Apple-Samsung hegemony and now has not one, but two devices in the top 10 list of best-selling devices worldwide in February. Both the Xiaomi Hongmi, a.k.a. Redmi, and the Xiaomi MI-3 have made their way to the 7th and 10th place, respectively.

As we reported, Xiaomi's sales for Q1 2014 were around 11 million units, a rather impressive result for a company that was founded in 2010. In 2013 alone, Xiaomi's overall sales grew roughly 160% and reached 18.7 million devices. Initially, the Chinese manufacturer expected to retail around 40 million devices in 2014, but with the latest numbers in mind, it is expected that the company will succeed in selling some 60 million smartphones.

Apple and Samsung, as expected, are the leaders in Counterpoint's top list. The Apple iPhone 5s gets the gold medal, while its "affordable" peer, the iPhone 5c, comes in second. One of the older devices in the list, the Apple iPhone 4s, sits comfortably at the 5th spot.

Samsung, on the other hand, has 5 representatives among the best-selling smartphones in February. The most successful among them is the Galaxy S4, which gets the bronze medal, but the Galaxy Note 3 follows closely at the 4th spot. The Galaxy S4 mini, the Galaxy S III, and the Galaxy S III mini have also found their place among the best-sellers for February.

Only time will show if Xiaomi, the so-called Chinese Apple, will continue its spectacular performance when it comes to sales throughout 2014 or the gained momentum will eventually fade."

Excellent work by Xiaomi. An intriguing list when one considers how many Apple and Samsung haters claimed the iPhone5C was a fail and Samsung Galaxy S4 isn't selling well, very interesting.
