My old 710 has a 1300 mAh battery and lasts me a day easily; I can't imagine this faring any worse in that department since the S4 is a pretty damn efficient chip.

Posted by Bonovox
I found the 710 battery awful

Posted by etaab
The 710 battery is poor imo. But its ok if you're not a heavy smartphone user which my mother isnt. She has one i bought for her birthday.

Well done to Nokia. I really truely hope they make a comeback now with WP8. Gorgeous phones. They make Android look drab and colourless !

I guess a Mugen battery will come out

That's probably why I didn't have any issues with the battery life; I'm not exactly a power user.

But, at the same time, the 710 and 620 aren't targeted towards power users, either...

Posted by Bonovox
But then what's the point in a dual core processor etc?? If I had any smartphone I would want a larger battery than this.

Because Microsoft requires a Qualcomm S4 processor for Windows Phone 8 devices.

I reckon this will be a winner...

Interesting Preview By Gsmarena !!!

P.S: Good Reading And Merry Christmas To All !

Posted by cu015170
I still think that a 1300 mah battery with WP8 is crazy... I think they have a lot of left over 1300 mah batteries from the Symbian days and they need to do something with them, so.. here we are.

bonovox how is the 8s doing with 1700 mah ? They have almost identical specs.

this is a little good phone indeed... Sean, what are your impressions about it?

Posted by hihihans
Not available in the Netherlands for another 2 weeks but I might sell my Cyan800 for this toy

Posted by cu015170
The best WP to date... Nokia finally figured out that they are better off at competing in the middle/low end with WP rather than in the higher end.

Posted by hihihans
I don't need a fancy screen and camera. I only worry about the 512Ram. 1ghz dualcore should be fast enough.

Posted by Bonovox
Hans, performace is fine no slow downs or crashes nothing unlike cheaper Android phones. RAM has not been an issue at all Overall performance, build, looks etc very good for a budget device. Phone runs smoothly no lag and is quite fast, fast enough for most daily needs. Camera is good not excellent but is only 5 megs. Pics will look grainy close up but otherwise is fine. HD video is actually a surprise being very good. Now, the 1,300Mah battery has also surprised me and lasted really well till the end of the day(night time) As I went to the south coast past 2 days I felt the battery lasted me well. All I need now is a nice coloured cover. The black one is boring and although soft touch it marks easily.

I think by now we all know that megapixel count doesn't matter all that much, you could have a much better 5Mpix photo than 8 or 12Mpix given the right sensor and optics The 620 probably shoots @ 1.4 microns.. so you can't expect anything amazing from a tiny sensor like that.

That is indeed surprising.. very well done. I don't understand why so many people complain about the 920s battery life.. I guess the LTE radios are pretty hungry.

Posted by fbloise
is the LTE. When I use mine in 3G only (HSDPA) it last couple of hours more.

Posted by Bonovox
No LTE on the 620 no but i guess soon we shall see budget LTE phones. As for megapixels i know but i have seen better 5 meg images but am happy enough with it anyway.

This one you took is not bad at all... and a pretty good frame btw

http://www.esato.com/phonepho[....]mia_620/201302162320QBrot0.jpg

I dunno.. I think the 620 is going to be a hit for Nokia, but the ironic part is that they went with Microsoft so that they can fight up in the higher end segment, but it seems like they are back in mid/low range again. The 920 is nice, but when you put it next to the 5inch 1080p quadcore silliness and it looses out on specs, which for some reason is what sells phones these days.

Where the 620.. is not trying to be a high end smartphone, but it does perform very well for its price, looks good, and its built very well.

Posted by Bonovox
Yes you are right and thanks for the photo compliment

Posted by cu015170
For some reason the 620 excites me more than the 920

anyway, just read that you might be able to use nokia's BP4L battery in the 620, which is 1500 mAh instead of 1300. Worth looking into..

^ scratch that.. it doesn't fit

Great article.. the same exact theory can be applied to almost all Symbian 10.0 smartphones

Posted by hihihans
I liked 820 over 920 but this 620 probably suits me more. I wonder what 720 will be like

Posted by hihihans
Quote:
The Lumia 720 will have 4.3inch CBD, 1Ghz Dual-core, 512Mb RAM, 8GB storage, HSPA+, WP8, microSD, 6MP camera and 2MP front camera, while the Lumia 520 will have 4 inch Super Sensitive screen, 1Ghz Dual-core, 512Mb RAM, 8GB storage, microSD, WP8, 5MP with no front camera

If this is real I might go for 520

Posted by Bonovox
Why not whatever makes you happy Nokia has got the right idea with their cheaper options. Good decent quality at an affordable price that will be mass market. That was an interesting article,& I do see that in todays market people do want an affordable but quality device. All today I see is as soon as a top smartphone comes down in price it is snapped up. Which leads me to believe most cannot afford the top end ones. The pre pay market is bigger than contract

Posted by cu015170
if you want to try wp .. the 620 is the way to go for sure.. unless you can get an unlocked 920 at the same price, but that is almost impossible.

I can't wait for the congress in Barca.. I really hope for Nokia's sake that they have something substantial to show, otherwise I can't really see them making it out as an independent company.

Posted by hihihans
I had my eye set to 820. But this 620 will do

Posted by Bonovox
Yes get one i love my little Lumia. Internet and general speed is great its smooth and well built and looks nice. Just needing some splash colour now

Original

Original

Was impressed with todays camera results

The 620 has sold out on O2UK after they did a one price drop for valentines day. Apparently O2 asked their customers which phone they'd like to see in a one day price drop and the 620 got the most votes. It went from £149 to £119 for a day and shows as sold out on their website.

A special MWC Nokia app i downloaded today. Is cool to keep a track of events

Posted by hihihans
I was thinking as those double colour covers are really made out of two layers, it would be very easy to decorate them with your own drawing. Simply by scratching of the top-paint.

Posted by Bonovox
Yeah never thought of that. Not gonna try it though, imagine if you make a mistake or a spelling mistake

Posted by Bonovox

Posted by fluke9
This is looking superb, may sell my 4S to get one.

What the browser like speed wise ?? As that's the only real concern I have.

Posted by Bonovox
No performance issues at all and when i do pick up HSDPA+ on Three pages load fast. No lag at all no issues with apps with 512 ram. Camera is decent and build quality rock solid. Best budget phone out there but doesn't perform or look budget. Also considering this phone has a 1,300mAh battery the battery life is very good. I easily get through the day and past midnight as long as you don't hammer it 24/7. With average usage it's good
