Indeed!

That is one of the best ads yet. Straight to the point. None of this silly selling a lifestyle rubbish.

This phone is a great little number.

too bad only 512MB ram,and no dedicated camera button

And the resolution is really poor for a 3.5" screen.

Xperia Go: 3.5", 320x480 -> 165 ppi
Xperia U: 3.5", 480x854 -> 280 ppi

And the Go will be more expensive than the U
Really don't get Sony's logic

It's only 45 EUR price difference (at least in Sweden). Go is water proof, U is not and that's probably what you pay for.

Probably Google Translate's fault

I'm also digging the yellow colour

since GO is a toughie, then that could be the reason. what i don't get is the omission of the front cam. the miro has it, GO could have been a tough version of the miro. another thing is the embedded battery. why go iphone style? it's an outdoor phone, an extra battery could have been very handy.

Good video. As for benchmarks I don't care cos it never reflects everyday real usage. That video is great I want one now

Xperia Go is a good looking smartphone that is available with so many applications. Xperia Go comes with the per-loaded Music and video Unlimited. It is capable for 8GB of built-in storage, 512 MB of RAM and also support micro SD card up to 32GB.

hello friend,

Has ICS been made available for this yet people? Am actually very tempted, I've had two phones die from 'moisture damage' now.

Posted by Arne Anka
No, there is still no ICS for Go.

I guess the boys at XDA have rooted it? I have never done that with a phone but maybe this is worth it. October/November is too long to wait.

I have been using the Go for the last 3 weeks and I must say it is a lovely phone.
So light compared to Xperia S or Ion.
Tried it in the pool, in the sea and the sand.
It already fell a dozen of times, mainly on purpose
It is my daughter's favorite toy, no worries when she mistreats it !
The housing is not though scratch proof, it has already been scratched a couple of times.

Video under water is cool and of good quality, photos have good colors.
Here are some photos from my trip to Greece and Turkey.
Cheers

It is scheduled fo Q3 to my best knowledge, so it will arrive before Oktober (my guess, end of August).

Thanks for the feedback and pics.

It's €259 in white SIM free in my local carphone warehouse so I think I will, it's cool in white. Will be a nice intermediate phone before the quadcore Nexus phone comes.

Any reviews or impressions about battery life of the Xperia go?

I did see the TechRadar review claiming above average use battery life, but any real life impressions?

So 8GB internal memory means there's no worries with it running out of space as a user tries to add more apps, right?

That was one of the major problems with my Arc.

Arne,

THAT is the commercials that Sony should be creating to highlight EXACTLY what this device has been:
Built for
Capable of
and REAL world usage that users expect!

These three alone could net Sony a use consumer satisfaction award (JD Power & Associates) that is globally recognized. That would also help improve sales, and also improve corporate loans for more R&D for more products that users want.

PS: Don't believe me, when was the last time Nokia garnered such an award vs Apple, Samsung, SE, or Motorola. And look at their dropping sales and bank ratings being DROPPED like a rock.

ICS now rolling out for Xperia go, Xperia sola and Xperia U

Android 4.0.4 Ice Cream Sandwich is now rolling out on the rest of the Sony Xperia handsets running the NovaThor U8500 platform. The Sony Xperia go, Xperia sola and Xperia U are starting to receive the ICS update as we speak. As usual, Sony says that the rollout will continue over the next few weeks in markets globally.

Great, thanks for the link, smclion102!

Really thinking about ordering up an Xperia Go this weekend. If someone could post ICS impressions soon, that would be perfect!

I'm not really sure which color yet though, white or black. I like the white one better but I think it won't look as nice after a couple of months of usage. Anybody got experience with the white one? Or white phone in general?

Posted by FMW300
I have a white Live since the start of the year. It's still looking like brand new. I decided on a white phone because it looks unique, plus different to what everyone else has. Just make sure and keep it clean and you're good to go (I use an eraser to wipe off all smudges & marks, and that works great, plus I have it in a clear silicone casing).

ICS update rolling out for Go.

Posted by reeflotz
So does anyone here who have an Xperia Go updated to ICS? Any bugs so far? or is it overall much better and recommended? hopefully someone replies, this thread seems dead or maybe just silent

Posted by sambouka
I've had the iCS on my GO for a week now and it is So sluggish.
I do not recommand it at all, stay with GB until Sony releases a better version.
Even after disabling lots of application and screen transitions, menus are slow, desktop screens are slower than ever.
Has anyone experienced the same?

Posted by reeflotz
Ok thanks, checked also various forums including sony forums, and a lot of people are complaining that ICS is indeed very slow on Go. Guess I'm just gonna stay with gingerbread for now. Thanks again for the reply mate

Posted by Bonovox
It's crazy that all I read about now is that Sony phones with updates to ICS are all slow. Sort it out Sony Shame cos the Go!! is a nice little waterproof baby

Posted by reeflotz
@ sambouka

have you tried this?
(All Sony ICS Devices) Instant Speed Improvement to ICS

just found it on xdadevelopers, you might want to give it a try since it seems to be simple settings, can't see that option on gingerbread though, so maybe that might help on those with ICS.

_________________________________________________________________________

Just tested up to what max video you could run on the go, MX player and BS player seems to be the only two video players I've tried so far with 720p mkv's that had no problem with audio and video, moboplayer did not recognize one of the audio of the mkv's I've played.

So far only 720p video with normal to low bitrate plays fine, High bitrate 720p videos stutters sometimes. 720p Hi-10P videos are a no go, it stutters a lot.

I just found out that xperia go has barometric pressure sensor !! I wonder why Sony/SE always insist on under representing their phones :S .. Anyway Jellybean update has been released for Go.

Posted by reeflotz
Hi, have you already updated to jellybean? My Xperia go is still on gingerbread, never bothered to update it since gingerbread works fine for me anyway. Is it much better than the ICS update?

Posted by djin
I haven't received it yet, but JB update seems to be much better than the ICS according to xda. Will keep you posted when I receive it.

Posted by reeflotz
Ok thanks mate I'm also looking at other forums to see if the JB update is good, so far I've read positive feedbacks about it too.

Posted by reeflotz
So after reading a lot of good reviews from users in different forums, I've decided to update my Xperia Go to Jellybean. So far I have not encountered any bugs and would highly recommend it . Btw I never used ICS on my Go, There's just one important thing to do after updating to jellybean and that is do a factory reset. In my case I also checked the box in clearing the internal memory. This fixes the sluggishness after the update and removes whatever junk was left on the phone, this also fixed the album not showing the pics on my SD card. the only downside is you're gonna have to reinstall your apps.

Overall I am very pleased with the update since scrolling between the menus is as fast as it was on gingerbread .

here are a couple of screenshots:

Personally I like the new UI, much more convenient to use, camera and music seems to be working fine.

Posted by djin
ITs still not available here yet . I hope I dont have to wait another month for getting this update via update service again..

Posted by reeflotz
hope you get it soon, so far I've taken a couple of pictures, loaded more music on my Go, and used wifi, haven't experienced any random freeze or shutdown yet which is good.

I have updated to jellybean and factory resetted it. Although its much much better than ics, it still does lag every now and then. Good thing is that free ram has also been increased.. however, its still frustrating to use.

Posted by reeflotz
Maybe its caused by an app or something? Do you have a lot of widgets or an antivirus app? Well so far I haven't encountered anything like that yet that makes my go frustrating to use.
