Nice images!

Is it a prototype??

Posted by goldenface
I found some shots on Picassa so I doubt these are shots from the commercial fw.

Posted by Bonovox
The real test will be the so called lower light capability with Exmor. The daylight shots look no different from the x10

Posted by justus333
or rather, they look worse. Quite disappointed with the cam so far....

Nice photos shame about the phone.

he wants a dishwasher on his next phone... so the Arc is no good....

The build quality is rubbish, the camera is the only thing se has going for them these days with their cheap plastic manufactured phones.

Please, can we try and save this thread for pictures.

Posted by Toney_Ericsson
There's loads of photos taken with a not yet final version Arc all over the internet, be better when its out and photos taken by forum members with the Arc. I get the impression you just wanted to start the topic

Posted by Bonovox
Indeed its a photo thread. I wanna see how well it holds up at night thats all

Surely it would have better daylight shots too? Seeing as the Arc supposedly has more natural colours than the X10?

Well I know the Arc is going to take much better photos than my current phone, so I will be happy with that.

Only the 2 pics from post 1?
Are there some low light shots? promised the low light shots would be on a new level for mobile phones, so I'd like to see some samples

Posted by Toney_Ericsson
Thinking about it my old Satio that hasn't been used for 2 years actually takes better photos than that

Posted by Bonovox
Well the 21st March release it will not be long for fresh photos

Surely it will take better photo's than a 2 year old phone? It should be better than the Satio and the X10 if it's not then it's going to be a big disappointment.

Night shot

More here

Ok, there's an improvement over the X10.
But that's not worth buying a new phone. The X10 is still totally good

Posted by goldenface
Thanks Arne. I've taken some excellent shots with my X10 but night scenes are definitely not it's strong point. The pic however is a decent shot.

I think Exmor sensor is in fact a marketing thing... Much better photos takes c905 or AIno.

Camera is not the be all and end all for me, so as long photos are of a reasonably good standard i'm not too bothered. There are other things that are more important to me in a phone than just camera alone. Though i do understand for some people it's of great importance.

Low light comparision with N8

Arc looks better to me and better colours than the N8.

Lots of noise at full size but better than some phone cameras. I still prefer the N8 for overall quality. The 3rd shot of the bush is crap

Not impressive picture quality From what I have seen in picture samples I doubt the Arc will be any better than the x10 or the Vivaz

Posted by northmonkey
Would i be better off getting an N8?

Posted by rikken
I believe that the N8 has better picture quality, but unfortunately it is a symbian device

Posted by dibdin
Still, its a much better camera than what my HTC Desire has so I'm not too disappointed.

Would those images have been taken under auto or manual settings does anyone know??

If you're after a great camphone, why not? But it's the only thing that you'll ever going to get...a great cam.

What's going on around here, why you already verdict the Arc before retail unit come out!

Posted by xenia
Arc has a great plus. It is lightning fast on shoot-mode. less than second from one shot to another.

I prefer the N8 having had one it has far more natural colours

Really ? At least indoors I don't see anything natural about N8:s colors.

Low light comparision with N8

N8 won quality hands down but color tone not so good (cool and dull), for Arc does decent job and very good color reproduction! (at least it look more lively) See it at full scale picture.

Comparison photos between N8 and X10, guess which one is which Both photos taken to the best of my skill, both on full auto. But don't peek on the EXIFs until you've made your educated guesses Arc quality shouldn't be too far off ...

Posted by northmonkey
Considering the Arc is being released a year after the X10 and has an Exmor R sensor it should be able to perform better than the X10 and if it doesn't it's a big let down.

Mode

1=N8
2=x10

Am I correct?

That's correct. As you can see, X10 is brighter with less noise, better detail and more accurate colours. Of course, the glare in the X10 photo would not be there if I lowered the EV to be the same brightness as the N8 photo. Those were the only comparison photos I had the opportunity to capture that made me wonder what the buzz around the N8 is all about

@Bono
My point is, at such brightness compared to N8, X10 should've had more noise. Just imagine if I were to up the EV on the N8, the noise would be out of control. So for such a bright picture, X10 did better than N8 and even with a more aggressive noise suppression X10 managed to capture details better, for example the lattice and the wall clock. X10 just beat N8 in everything in that photo which I was surprised to see myself. On top of all that, it's not hard to see that the colour reproduction on N8 is way off...

Photo comparison between arc, N8, IP4 and SGS via xperia blog!
Full sized pics here Flickr

I think Arc does really well, even beats N8 in some cases.

Thanks for the links.

Arc wins hands down here.
