These latest devices combine stunning design with state-of-the-art Sony technology and a new faster messaging experience on the Xperia™ pro, creating an entertaining smartphone experience.”

Xperia™ neo builds on the stunning design language that Sony Ericsson has become known with a unique shape that not only looks good, but is ergonomically designed to fit perfectly in the user’s hand, especially when taking pictures.

Both smartphones will launch on the latest version of the Android™ platform providing access to Google Mobile Services and the myriad of applications available via the Android market. Nice designs and a 2MP front-facing cam.

Yawn... change the record bring something new in the neo and pro that separates it from the arc.

Posted by rikken
I like the Neo, suits me better than the Arc `coz of the 3.5 jack on the top Is it true that it`s screen is 4.2 inches ?

Posted by jplacson
Sigh, I guess it was too much to hope that they would've kept the Mini Pro size and just increased the screen res.

I already thought that a 3" screen was too big to go for the next Mini Pro update... 3.7"??? I might as well get an iPhone...

Posted by sunrise_
Maybe two separate topics for neo and pro would be a good idea?

@jplacson
Mini and mini pro successor will be announced next time.

It features a smaller 3.7" FWVGA display

just a though, why was it not called the 'xperia neo pro'? because 'xperia pro' (to people who don't know this means a keyboard) sounds like it is the best xperia model on the market. so is this really want SE want? i mean taking the spotlight away from the arc?

The silver colored Pro is the one I want, if I decided to stay with SE.
A bigger screen than the the X10 Mini is just a positive thing as the 2.55" are way too small for my liking (small is good in the pocket but using it as a PDA was a pain).

Don not care much about the camera.

Was just checking them out at SE site but found nothing of which Android version it coming with, may one hope for 2.3 like the "Arc"?

Coming at end of Q2 which might mean sometimes between early May or late June.

Hopes the committee that selected the pre-installed software in the X10 Mini, have been banned from dealing with pre-installed software in the Xperia Pro. They did a lousy job with X10 Mini.

All new phones comes with 2.3. It was mentioned on the press conference today. You can also read about it in the press releases (just search for 2.3 or Gingerbread in the links below).

I'm hoping so. I think 3.7" and 4.1" are too close to each other to be counted a different products. should've kept the larger gap like the X10, X8, and Mini

I think Pro is for me, such a perfect surprise there as it's the only model that hasn't been leaked until today afaik. That keyboard will come in handy in times of need, but no front facing camera?

Look again in the White Paper.

In spite of being one of the uglier xperia phone together with the X2 I do like the Idea of the Xperia pro over every others. Sliding out the keyboard bring an ap out that's cool.

I think the Pro is one of the best looking Xperia phones, except X10.

Posted by norbi_nw
have to object on that one, as IMO the Pro looks butt ugly... i prefere the X10 and mini pro shape and form. This one is too rounded for me
So maybe i will stick with a silver Arc if the price will be right. Can't believe that nothing has changed camera wise, no improvements over 2010. On the GSMarena chart the Vivaz and Arc pictures look the same to me, no improvement (well maybe + 5-10% improvement to Arc, but thats not enough).

Posted by laffen
I am sure the Xperia Pro will be a perfect QWERTY phone for most people, but I didn't exactly fell in love with it at first sight. In my opinion, its too thick and has that unwanted plastic feeling.

But. It is one of the first phones to run on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, and it should be available in March this year. HDMI out, Reality display and Exmore R. Just want to let you know that the light images are amazing. I'll try to get hold of some example images tomorrow.

@norbi_nw
I will try to capture a couple of comparison images with the Vivaz and Arc sometime this week. You can't even compare the low light images captured by Arc with the Vivaz. They are not in the same leauge. Daylight images are almost the same, but Arc, neo and pro are using the Exmor R CMOS sensor which changes everything (heard that phrase before?) in low light conditions.

The pro:

The Xperia pro in silver will definitely be my next phone. Perfect upgrade to my Nokia C6.
SE has got it right with this one.

The only problem is the 320MB RAM. May it be RAM or ROM, the Honeycomb successor interface might not fit there.

That's ROM.

Yeah, weird thing is that the other phones don't have it..... Anyway, I guess they will implement this feature in all models to come out in Q2 and later They couldn't tell me more about it unfortunately

Posted by motvikt
Yea the pro seems to have a newer firmware. Also the "helicopter view" is floating (the widgets) in that phone.

Posted by norbi_nw
i like the dual view email client. maybe they can do that for sms too. Also i saw some night shots with the exmor R and its quite cool. Let's see the review with sample shots vs other phones in low light. If i look at it alot maybe i will like it. Hope it will be accessible. FFS 400euro and + is alot for this phone.

That's worse because any Gingerbread successor should need more ROM. Anyway, end of Q2 is still far so there's time for SE to up the ROM at least 1GB similar to how they upgraded Xperia1 RAM before official release.

The beautiful "Human Curvature" design of phones is gone...

Posted by Tsepz_GP
The 320mb ROM is probably the amount left to the user, so for all we know it may have a 1GB ROM chip, and anyway from Froyo and up its not necessary to have a large ROM as you can move apps to SD, although i must admit, now that ive got Froyo on my X10 i still prefer installing to internal mem as the X10 has over 400mb available to user i don't realy need to move them to SD.

It's still Human Curvature, but implemented the other way around (with the arc design).

Posted by jplacson
Domipost, I was referring to the pro & play

Posted by domipost
The pro has the arc too

And the Play has the same rounded design as the Vivaz

Posted by KU
The play is shaped as a game controller, and the pro do have the same shape of the mini pro. Qriocity for alp xperia rang of the x1 cest update have it together with themes that would be great. Once again is back

It does? Oh good ... it looked pretty flat on the youtube handson video.

Posted by domipost
Yeah, it's not that extreme, but it does Weird thing btw that the Neo is curved the other way around than the pro...

Posted by kewsvnet
i do prefer the button and connector layout of neo...altho pro's keyboard is quite nice!!

does anyone know if there are gonna be any docks released for these phones like the xperia play??? coz i really like the dock that has been announced for play!!!
