Hello people

I am looking to buy a pair of headphones for the X10... Just wanted to know which ones would you suggest?

Thanks

budget?

You can't go wrong with ether Shure or Sennheiser IMO.

Posted by SE-Naz
Have you tried them on the X10?

Which models would you suggest?

Thanks

@AndyD777 + 1 Your post came in whilst I was writing the essay below.

Obviously the 3.5mm Jack means your spoilt for choice.

As a rule though I would recommend Sennheiser, and they have cans to suit all budgets. I love my old PMX100 folding headphones, although at 6 years old the foam really needs replacing:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennh[....]ctronics&qid=1270740389&sr=8-3

I recently invested in some of the noise cancelling CX300s and whilst they are brilliant when sat on a train/plane/bus, I do find that there's a bit of an echo/noise produced by them when walking, so I am still holding on to the old foldy ones for everyday.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennh[....]ctronics&qid=1270740389&sr=8-1

I personally think both of these offer good value, but as with anything spending more should get you even better results. If money really is no object I wouldn't mind betting that the Shure noise cancellers are pretty good as their music gear Mics etc are pretty much a reference point within the industry.

As with anything though, and perhaps more than most, there is a large degree of personal preference involved so I really would recommend you try before you buy, but Sennheiser are generally a very well thought of, specialist brand..Lastly if the hole in your pocket is £250 size then Bowers & Wilkins have just made their first pair of Headphones, these guys are British Hi-Fi legends, you probably know them for the Zeppelin iPod dock..

Go enjoy trying some different styles out, and let us know what you buy and how happy you are with them?

if you like bass, sure, go sennheiser, the likes of the cx300,cx400 or cx500. if you want premium sound, look at their ie7/ie8. fantastic earphones. but very pricey...

whats ya budget se-naz... theres defo better quality to be had in the price range of the cx500 for example

Posted by SE-Naz
I have bose which give deep base but not much treble on the X10... But they worked nicely with the iPhone...

So I need something more suitable for the X10

Budget wise I would say around £40 - £60 (MAX)

Found CX500 for £29.99 which seems to be a good price from them

Thanks for all your help people...

How do you find the noise level on the X10 (background hiss)

I'm hoping it's OK. My X10 should arrive on Tuesday.

I would vote "Shure" then "Sennheiser" forget about Bose they are overrate and cant delivered what it said it would be also Expensive!
I own a pair of Monster Turbine and it rocks! you wouldnt go wrong with that pair (i think they release a version 2 now)

sennheiser cx180 would be good. and some what cheap...

@Toney_Ericsson

What type of music do you listen to?

This would give me an idea... I like SONY earphones... so I might go for these...

Cheers

I listen to nearly absolutely everything from house to r&b everything. I used to have the Sony MDR-EX 90 LP headphones but the link to the ones above are the new version and louder. The MDR-EX500LP are absolutely awesome, it's studio quality and great if you listen to house or anything like that.

Cheers for getting back to me... I listen to the same type of music... I will look into these earphones more and hopefully get them very soon unless someone else can suggest otherwise...

Posted by >500
look at Klipsch s2 or s4

original Monster Turbine

or denon ah-700 / ah-751

Your best bet would be to get them from somewhere like Play.com or Amazon for the cheapest price. I wanted them quick at the time so just got them from a Sony centre but they are stupidly more expensive. By the way never get things like headphones from play traders or amazon traders only directly from the main company as there are fakes sold by traders.

Cheers for the advice...

Im getting stuck now...

I like the Denon ones a lot and the Sony ones just don't know which ones would be better... Would I be able to return if I don't like...???

I think theres a hygiene thing with headphones where places don't accept returns, I was told that at the Sony Centre when sold over the counter. Normally online policies with the long distance selling act are once opened they wont accept returns, I may be wrong though.

Seriously though you will love the Sony MDR-EX500LP in ear headphones the sound quality is awesome you get a real true bass and they are even louder than previous Sony models, you won't go wrong with them ok a little more expensive than other makes but they are quality. I get people asking all the time what headphones are they as they look good too

If you do go for the 500s then Tesco have them for less than £50, £20 less than the Sony Store, + Double Clubcard points:

http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.206-4332.aspx

Would definitely +1 Toney's sentiments re: traders. There are loads of knock-offs of the better quality headphones doing the rounds.

Good luck.

Just bougt a pair of SONY MDR-EX500LP headphone`s from our local Tesco`s to use with my X10 . They were priced at £65 on the shelve but was told they were £32 at the checkout .

Thats a good price, well worth going to your local Tescos then and at least you know your getting a genuine product.

Steer well clear of Play.com traders or amazon traders that sell the older MDR-EX500LP headphones as I bought a pair from a Play.com trader and they were fake as well as the half price rubbish. They would be real at Tesco though Tesco wouldn't sell fake ones.

The ones to go for are the newer Sony MDREX500 as they are louder and that is a good price at Tesco

Posted by >500
defo go the Denons over the sony

@lazyboi

How do you find the earphones on your x10? If you don't mind telling me was your tesco based in London?

Posted by SE-Naz
SONY MDR-EX500 - Cheapest I have seen @ £37.46

By the way does anyone know the difference with

MDR-EX500 and MDR-EX500LP (Are they the same?)

They sound very good straight out of the box with deep bass , balanced treble and an open soundstage , and they are getting better the more i use them ( about an hour a day ).

I bought them from the Ricoh Arena Tesco in Coventry.

I have the sony mdr-ex500 and they are really bad in sound and bass compared with my sennheiser ie6 and sennheiser ie7. And the sony look really strange when you wear it!
People don't buy the sony if you can buy sennheiser in ears

mate, cant go past the Klipsch x1 (identical to s2, just a little version amazon teamd up with klipsch to make, only thing different is the box lol. and much cheaper)

reviews: http://www.head-fi.org/forums/f103/klipsch-x1-s2-review-450907/

amazon link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/pr[....]_rd_p=467198433&pf_rd_i=468294

i added it to cart and the price said 15gbp or something, bargain!!! the s2's are about 35gbp on amazon.

The Sony's get excellent ratings better than them other ones, can't be that bad sound or bass

I thought you said your X10 came with an MW600 included in the box along with a 16GB microSD?

Glad you're happy with them, really don't think Sennheiser can be faulted...

But please tell me where you found them for £55?

Cheers

Brought them off a forum... the guy purchased them only had them for 1 week... got quite lucky...
