nice one hihihans and i'm pretty sure there will be a lot of q&a sessions to come

Posted by vegetaleb
Thank you Hihihans!
Now the Aino is truly respected in Esato

Posted by Ricky D
A couple of things that may be worth adding, but aren't absolute nessecities..

For R7AA071:
Detail:
Java SW version:JP-8.5.1
Fixes:
WiFi connectivity improved
Touchscreen responsiveness improved
Media speeds improved
Bugs:
Can't think of any I've come across

Posted by hihihans
Thanks Ricky. I'll ad it soon. These are the little things that make the difference between FirmWares.

Posted by vegetaleb
It would be great if SE add:
-SMS creation using the touch screen with large keyboard
-Manual EV for the camera
-Faster shutter speed for the camera
-Increase a little(+20%) the ringtones volume

What Mods could do:
-Manual ISO and EV for the camera
-Increased video bitrate for video capture
-Make the whole menu touchable (difficult but feasable)
-Increase the overall sound volume

Posted by hihihans
@ vegetaleb. switch to Satio if you want full touch.

Posted by mallaccra
aino was designed not to have full touch functions on the media screen....thats the fact.
full touch screen with/without qwerty keyboard, semi touch screen with button keypad and full button keypad phones are all purposely designed to cater the different tastes/needs of the consumers...the choice is yours

Posted by vegetaleb
Yeah but the Aino has a better capacitive screen than the satio's resistive

Posted by angryman
I'd like:
- to have the option to read sms' when I receive them without having to open the slider, and accept files over bluetooth without having to slide the thing open.
-A resume virtual button when the slider is closed so i dont have to slide open the phone everytime I want to resume using opera mini or any app that is currently open.
- Either full menu touch or the ability to add apps to the media menu screen, so i can add opeara mini, calculator and whatever else.
- time display when i press the volume button when the phone is closed. It does nothing and i have to press the top button to view the time.
- End call button should be a slider so its not so easy to accidentally end a call, although i've only ended a call once when i first used it.

It's such a nice phone and it could be made almost perfect if they work on the touch functionality a little more.

Slider to end would be great, with alarm too. No more accidentally ending while taking it out of your pocket.
1st post edited.

Posted by angryman
another feature appears to be missing with the current firmware.
when you dock the phone it doesnt automatically switch on wifi to pair itself as a media server for the ps3 or other device on the network.

Posted by vegetaleb
Even the Touch Media player is not complete, it misses many options for the music player (build a playlist,equaliser...)

Posted by mallaccra
guys, is there a need to activate the antivirus on aino, i supposed proprietary os doesn't need one right

So dose anyone know if Aino can expect a major February update as almost every October/November release phone from them have done in the past few years? I get the feeling that the current firmware isn't going tobe final and we may see something of the likes that C905 did with it's upgrade package.

Posted by vegetaleb
I didn't know we had an antivirus onboard
As for the FW upgrade we only got 2 till now so of course expect another one around, the thing is that SE has now 3 different OS to worry about: S60v5, Android and A2 so that's would explain the slow-down procedure for FWs.
I just want a louder output volume for ringtones(or else we can count on the upcoming A2Uploader) and EV control in camera mode

Posted by mallaccra
yes there is an antivirus onboard not sure for other region though. ya hopefully se will update the aino's fw soon coz there are many things need to be corrected/updated ie unresponsive/freeze touch screen, ev control for the camera, "play all" features on the media touch screen, reading sms on the touch screen etc. till now the a2 uploader does not support aino but i hope it will soon

AntiVirus was there all the time. I don't see the need to use it.

Posted by vegetaleb
Perhaps it's in case you are not sure if you have a MS virus in the SD card because you have plug it with USB on a ''foreign'' PC and that you want to connect it on your own PC later on

Posted by hihihans
Yeh,you can't be to careful, with changing contacts.

Posted by hihihans
Slide to end a call is there! if you make a call through BT headset you can end it with a nice red slide on the screen. it shouldn't be to hard to implant it with normal calls too.

Posted by mallaccra
answers to questions from other similar thread....
#1. the red strip is still there, #2. sometimes the media ui did lag especially when you do a lot of deleting and transferring files via the media go, #3. did you mean the "unlimited" theme bubbles, as far as i can remember it was not there either on the previous fw, please correct me if i'm wrong, #4. all the five icons on the touch screen pop up with equal size.

try to re-update, probably the problems occurred during installation

I just updated my AINO (R1BA051) using update service to R7AA071, everything seems to be fine except that the phone's language completely changed, I lost english and spanish, now it has french, malay, thai, chinese and some others. Is there a way to get back or install english and spanish languages?

Posted by vegetaleb
You have to change the CDA of your phone but I don't know if we already can with Aino...
Anyway SE should release a new FW update soon, February is a FW month @ SE

Posted by hihihans
@ inos, try to update again. Hence you had R1BA051 I think you have U10a and need R7AA074.

Posted by inos
@hihihans, I have a U10i I'll try to update it again but I don't think it make a difference, for some reason the update service downloaded the FW for another region (asia I think). The weird thing is that phone came with a US or EU FW.

Posted by vegetaleb
What is SE waiting for? We want a new FW!!

Posted by angryman
It's taking a while because SE are probably working on an extra special update.

Posted by mallaccra
looking forward for the new update too....
i hope se will add more features and functions on the main touch screen ie. add manual ev control for the camera, play all option for the media player, making the fb to work in landscape mode and to make sms viewable in the main touch screen

Posted by hihihans
@ Mallaccra. Don't ask to much might ad some bugs too, for free!
Cam is mayor concern.

Are we due one?

Posted by mallaccra
currently the latest generic fw is R7AA071 and there is no official news yet from se about new update

Posted by DanMan03
Definitely looking forward to the next firmware update! So many things need fixing!!!

Posted by vegetaleb
My Aino has a gap between enabling wifi and bluetooth and that it really work. That's why it say ''no network found'' for 5 sec, same thing with BT

Posted by Platia1
My Aino just got new firmware

R7AA077

Maybe a bit faster but otherwise no difference

Posted by vegetaleb
Thank you for reporting it.
I will try to update right now

Posted by Ricky D
Just got R7AA077 too through FOTA. I've got Hong Kong regionalised firmware.

LCD SW version 200909100
camera version 6.8
Java SW version JP-8.5.1

Didn't check what the older version was before I upgraded. I'll report bugs and fixes as I find them.

Posted by vegetaleb
Couldn't upgrade via SEUS

Posted by mallaccra
R7AA071 is still the latest for apac-anz...

Posted by hihihans
se changed their fw names so could it be that 071 is generic 074 north america 077 fota?

APAC-ANZ now available. Took about 10 minutes using FOTA with Optus.

Version 1226-0429 R7AA077 091217

Still no mention of it on the SE website though, so I don't know what improvements are included. Haven't noticed anything different yet. Menu response time is very snappy, but then, it was good before, so this is probably just my imagination!

one good thing about updating through FOTA is there's no need to do any backups. Using SEUS is a pain because I have to backup everything first!

Posted by vegetaleb
Still nothing on FOTA here (Lebanon)
Are they any new stuff when the slider is closed?
Any new options with camera?

No new options on camera or with slider closed that I have noticed. Perhaps this update is to improve reliability (reduce bugs) and maybe tweak battery life or some such. Don't really know until updates their website to tell us what's new!

Posted by angryman
The firmware might have made the os a little lighter?
Lasts time I checked I had 50Mb of phone memory and now i have 53Mbs.

i've tried using seus but still remained at 1226-0429 R7AA071 091124. will try fota later...

Posted by hihihans
I've got it too
R7AA077 western europe

Posted by vegetaleb
So nobody found a single change?

Posted by SAiLO
The phone seems to be more responsive in general after updating. Nice one SE!

Posted by hihihans
That's what I thought too, a bit better with the battery also, lets say 10%

Posted by vegetaleb
Still nothing on SEUS or OTA here
Anyway I preffer a better news like an A2uploader that can let us cook Cam and Audio drivers! (or I swap my Aino with a Hero )
