it has no science, you just have to be in a clear sky and turn the gps on and wait for it to make a conection with several satelites, it can take a while, you can use the a-gps but i dont think it helps alot and it cost money, so you just wait for it to conect.
By the way i heard that some firmwares had trouble with it i am usin rb 35 (i dont remember the middle numbers)

But i'll answer how, just open info status to start searching signal, and wait until full locked. Don't press back but just minimìze, then u could use application that u want.
