miphone was a sim free company in my country (Jamaica) does that mean claro will be sim free if not not many people will switch claro since digicel is the king mobile company in jamaica.....

If claro uses sim then i might get a sim and use in my p1 to get full 3g

echo.shane: You mean it was a CDMA only company?

Here (in Dominican republic) was also CDMA only and then they brought GSM and in february this year they brought 3G...
Hope you get that soon, since Claro has very good quality here, very good reception and voice quality.
The only downside is their price but quality is top-notch, not like other providers that you can't make calls during weekends.

But Claro, Here is not so expensive if you use post paid plans or plans with a package of minutes that you pay at the beggining of the month.... Claro is the most expensive for those ones who uses their phones with prepaid cards but not for the other customers

Claro does have a GSM network.

From their FAQs:
"I heard that I will have problems with my cell because you are going to move to another network. Is that true?

Customers will have no problem with their service. The CDMA network, the most powerful on the island, remains and we will continue to invest and strengthen this network. We will be building a GSM network that works in parallel with the CDMA network."
