The P5 rumour thread was closed because of X1 announcement?

So all this time, all the hype of P5...turned into X1? But the X1 is not as killer as the rumours/photoshops made it out to be?

Nope the P series is still alive, trust me.

Some members ruined the P5 thread as no pics were shown.

Posted by Trev1982
people were getting stupid, being offensive to pk and other members that are in the no, and to much chat bout the X1 in there even though it has its own thread,

Posted by PeterKay
no patience was the main issue.

Some people complain whatever happens. They will critisise SE for delaying the launch but if they didnt they would critisise them for launching a buggy phone. Its a no win situation.

Esato wasn`t like that before. Something happend to it last year. WE just got some furious members lately. Me dislike that

Hi all

I haven't complained once about the length of time it is taking the P5 to arrive and yes i would rather see it take longer and arrive as close to perfect as possible as being reasonable anything else would just be silly and counterproductive.

If SE don't deliver this time they will be guilty of killing UIQ they really can't afford to do anything other than to deliver a stunning devcie IMO if they do or not is to be seen.

Nah, everybody knows where everyone else stands on this topic, best let sleeping dogs lie, (no pun intended)

I think the whole 'let's start a thread 9-12 months in advance' thing is the problem. Its a long time to wait especially on a forum. It also seems that its moving into other parts of the forum. It was correct to lock and probably should stay locked until a picture or something official happens.

Posted by Astral1
WOW! PK and Mizzle in tha same thread, at almost the same time, without bodyguards?

Hi guys. is this like the beginning of another P5 rumour thread?

We need info.

Id like to thank you both for the sterling job you do in making the guessing game so much fun.

Keep it up, and stay happy all.

I would have to say I partially agree with this--however, in the defense of the people who were behind the thread, at that time it was believed the P5i would be announced in November. ...Then it got delayed due to hardware upgrades and it's been kind of gray ever since.

CeBit is very soon, so we shall see if there's a major announcement then.

^^^ doubt it, itll come like a sucker punch to the throat ... leave you breathless.

at least thats what im hoping for.

Posted by londonlad123
Isnt that part of the problem, that the p5 is always due to be announced in one month or less without anything substantial to base on. That's why the p5 talk should be limited to the the 2008 rumors thread until we find a spypic or its announced in which case the rumor thread is not needed.

Not all of the members (referring to myself). But I was a long time esato forum reader. I try to post some knowledgeable stuff but I don't have any sources. I'm more of a bystander.

I don't see why some people are very negative about others on these forums [I hate that and I get so defensive about it].

I'm a Sony Ericsson fan too. Never had any phone that wasn't Sony Ericsson. From the T610i to the Z610i (just realized they were the same numbers) nor will I ever leave Sony Ericsson.

Wow. Thanks for the responses guys. Now I am happy to know the Psomething lol still exists.

I love Esato but yeah the animosity is unnecessary. But nice having you other guys on here to liaise with anyway.

Peace and Love from Jamaica (yeah, I'm probably one of if not the biggest freak here LOL).

I think it would be better for to annouce P5 (and other phones) later but not too long to the release date, says it about 2-3 months after announcement.

I guess that's what keeps a forum going too. Discussions... discussions... and a few angry verbal fist fights here and there

I would say releasing it in the summer is good, but they have to time it really well. Nokia will obviously be pushing for their S60 touch now that Sony Ericsson has released a surprising flagship. It's important for the P5i to sort of steal the interest of competitor's phone, which Sony Ericsson has done in the 3GSM Conference by making all their announcements first. Sony Ericsson's marketing seems to be improving this year - maybe because of the new CEO? I hope so

its not the "wait 9-12 months smth gonna happen" its the "hey guys in two weeks there is an announcement and SE will surprise you......BUT if not ce la vie" . let people guess 5-6 months , let their ideas prosper but dont give any hints. "oh it looks different" "yeah more likely" "na totally wrong, it is smth different" that teases readers to much. teas the cat long enough and itll scratch you. everyone knows beta live under NDA but betas should play with the kids either.

If oksehud is correct, we probobly had teh P5 design for ages now. Take a look at this:

I guess it needs to be updated to be a P5 but surely this is a good representation of how the P5 will be.

will the p5i be announced in CeBit?:D thanks guys!

Posted by sep2010
I just have one question for PK.

well wait. 2 questions plus a bonus 3rd question.

1. Is the P5 so amazing it would make us jump for joy and do cartwheels?
2. Is it considerably better than the X1?
3. Will it be made available to the US? I noticed that some of the new phones like the G series is marked as "coming soon" on the Euro and Asia sites, but not on the North America site.

Posted by PeterKay
Answers:

1. yes
2. possibly
3. possibly

I can answer these questions too:

1. that depends on if you are a jumping person
2. one is considerably better than the other one
3. you were supposed to ask one question only and I already answered two, so no bonus 3rd answer for you

yeah, mayb in the past there wasnt so many flamings, but its easy to put responsibility on those, who were banned or left esato. no offence, but i read here more flamings amon se fans and among se and non se fans...

And if they implement the UIQ 4 to it or just (less likely) return to the old school UIQ (P800i, P900i and P910i) in the new UIQ 4, because i liked their OS much more then the P1i in term of the look and the using, this UIQ 3 looks more like the normal sony ericsson series 40 OS but with the ability to touch it.

Posted by my ninja
who holds the title of 'considerably better'? x1 or p2i?

- ill be very VERY upset if ive seen the best SE will offer us this year ... 65k color, pssh.

Sliding Keyboard was one of my predictions a possible formfactor - imho the best option as it gives us a proper 5 way controller (that isn't biased towards right handers) as well as a qwerty kyb, in a formfactor that's not quite as fat as some of those BB and HP qwerty thumboard solutions.

What's the latest here on this Psomething?

I mean it's so heavily guarded it better be worth it and match anything out now.

Paris discussion has pretty much moved to the 2008 Announcements thread. As for features, based on what phones the competition has already announced/will announce, it still looks like it'll be able to hold its own very well.

Not really. It just needs a good technical team, planning, project management and good PR, none of which seems to be existing at SE.

Sony Ericsson prepares the release of another super-phone besides Xperia X1, and that is Sony Ericsson Paris, also known as Sony Ericsson P5 (or P5i). Although we are not sure what the final name of the handset will be, a recent post, which appeared over at the Unofficial Sony Ericsson Blog, unveils the first clear hand-on picture with the device, plus several valuable details.

Sony Ericsson Paris P5 is said to feature a full QWERTY keypad, in the same style as the one packed in P1, SE's smartphone released last year and reviewed a few months ago by Softpedia. You can't see the keypad in the available picture for a simple reason: the Paris phone is a slider, and it hides the QWERTY feature under the large display. Unlike Xperia X1 though, Sony Ericsson Paris is a "normal slider". Or maybe not so normal, since rumors say it might come with a dual-sliding design, in the vein of another craved but unreleased yet handset (and we talk about Nokia N96, of course).

Other features revealed about the future high-end handset from Sony Ericsson include GPS, 5 Megapixel camera, touchscreen and the newly announced UIQ 3.3 interface. Combined with other advanced features, these might make the Paris handset a tough competitor for Nokia N96.

Although the picture available with Sony Ericsson Paris is not that great in quality, it offers a pretty good view on the phone. There are small chances for this to be a Photoshop fake, especially since the guys from the Unofficial SE Blog say they even have an "official" video with P5, which will be made public in about two weeks, presumably released by Sony Ericsson.

Nothing more to do now than to wait for the Swedish-Japanese joint venture's confirmation for the existence and release of Paris / P5 / P5i.

People! The storm is coming, and we just beat Sony Ericsson at announcing it. We’re of course talking about the mysterious, super high-end smart phone, often referred to as ‘Paris’.

We’ve gotten our hands on the official product video of Paris, and even though we won’t be able to show you the video at this point in time (wait two weeks!), we can show you a few screen shots from the video with the most crucial parts blurred out a bit.

Paris will feature a full keyboard in known P1-style - below the screen, that is! Why? Well, Paris is a slider! It looks drop-dead-gorgeous and is set to slay, yes SLAY, other competitors on the market. It runs UIQ 3.3, and well, have a look at the picture. That pretty much says it all.

Paris will be announced before the end of May, and will be available in shops as early September! We haven’t got a price tag on this baby as of yet, but we’ll definitely be trying to sniff it up! So, picture after the jump! We’ll show you a picture of the back a bit later on

Plus pretty much anyone here who knows anything visits USEB every day so we can all get the news firsthand as soon as it's released over there. Discussion is good, but there isn't much stuff that is "new" here.
