Both

Posted by Daedalus85
first one, then the other

Seriously though, at the moment (and for the last 6 years or so), it's been money, and realistically I havne't been 'fit' or 'in shape' for a few years longer than that lol!.

But in the long run, I'd rather be healthy but nicely wealthy

I think it will be EITHER way . . . look, if you have WEALTH and you have a HEALTH problem . . . your WEALTH can cover that ! Now, if you have HEALTH (and is POOR) . . . you can become WEALTHy by running in the public office . . .

@boba - Well you CAN buy - health too ! That's why there's the HEALTH insurance companies booming like mushrooms everywhere . . .

Of course Health comes first. Because for enjoying life being a rich person one need to be healthy. Money doesn't attract much when one have a heavy headache rather then a panadol.

Wealth can buy you Health too.

^ yes, agree! But not tottaly agree. Wealth can't buy health everytime. But a heatlhy person can have 100% plenty of money but one condition...struggle and hardwork. The rule of Allah tallah. One who struggles , he gets for sure.

Er, not if you've got a terminal illness if you wouldn't be...

Hi all,

Well let me tell you what ever you think HEALTH over Wealth every time as money can't buy you health or happiness.

All i can say is whilst i had money and was working i spent it on things people told me i should wait till i retire to do, i have flown on Concorde and had luxury Holidays and stayed in some of the best Hotels all over the world whilst i was young fit and healthy.

You don't need to be terminally ill for Health to destroy your life trust me i know from personal experience. As suddenly in 1999 after only ever having had a slightly bad back on the odd occasions my life changed for ever. Since then i have had a discectomy on my L5 disc in 1999 followed by a fusion of the spine between my L3-L5 disc in 2002 i also have never been able to return to work which meant both my Mobile Data Company and Chauffeur Buisness had to close as i was the business, so am actually retired due to my ill health.

Since then i have been under a pain control specialist and have to take large amounts of OPIATE pain Killers and am still always in pain just the level varies. Up until a year ago i used to have procedures that would stabilise my condition and reduce my pain to an acceptable level for 6-9 months before needing another procedure.

Over the last Year none of my usual treatments have had any effect and my pain levels are continuing to increase as are the doses of my Opiate pain meds. I have one of the top guys in his field as my Pain control specialist and have had procedures that not many are even aware exist never mind able to perform.

Even if i had a million pounds in the bank it would make no difference at all to my life other than i might live in a more luxurious surroundings and have better devices to play with. I still wouldn't be able to fly anywhere on holiday or even go to a restaurant for a meal as can't sit long enough to enjoy it.

I should also point out i have and always have had private Medical Insurance and both my back Surgeon and Pain control specialist are highly respected and top men in their respective fields. I am now facing the possibility of having to have a spinal pump fitted to try and regain some control over my pain which currently is off the scale and still getting worse.

So trust me from someone that knows your health is the most important thing you have and it's not until it goes wrong you realise just how important it really is.

I am just lucky that i did all things i wanted to when i was younger and made a conscience decision in the early 80's that i didn't want to get married or have children as otherwise the last 8 years and their consequences would of been much worse especially for those that would of relied on me for their survival and well being. Things currently are so bad that at 47 since February i have had to return to the family home to live with my parents as just can't cope living alone as will forget to eat.

Marc

Health....all the way!

My dad was wealthy until he lost his health!

Posted by aldrinus
just to share something related from my phone's Inbox:

"we are in such a hurry to grow up, then long for our lost childhood.
we make ourselves ill by earning money and then spend all of it getting well again.
we think so much about the future that we neglect the present, and thus, experience neither the present nor the future.
we live as if we were never going to die, and die as if we have never lived."

the sender quoted it as coming from Jaime Cohen. well, it seems that based on this quote and from what i understood (and thus, totally agree with), health is more important than wealth. being healthy is living clean. but of course, moderation in everything should be considered.

you don't actually have to spend a fortune to stay healthy while making yourself wealthy

btw, i'm 37 years old and proud to say that my bone density and strength (a prime health indicator) is equal to that of a 25 year old! that's according to my medical test just last summer (April here).

@dogmann:

your revelation is indeed an eye-opener for us. i have learned a lot from that post. here's me wishing you all the best for quick recovery. get well soon, mate and take care of yourself... cheers!

Thats not strictly true though is it? Even the richest people die of illnesses!

Posted by KingBooker5
And a lot of the time, the rich die young.

@Doggman, I just read that post, I wish you aswell a speedy recovery. Its a sad thing that such things happen. Hopefuly you will recover soon, as with all the other people with bad illnesses
