Were these taken under the best settings? If so, they aren't very impressive. The P990 ones look far better.

Posted by rambo47
I'm not impressed by the picture quallity so far. My K790i was way better.

@slide - Can you take more OUTDOOR-shots with the SUN shining at it's PEAK Those images looks horrible considering it's a 3.2 MP camfone . . . !

I'll take a couple today and see if its any better. I was out last night around 9pm when I took them so that might explain why it was so bad.. I hope anyway.

If someone could post a few photos in the Photos section. Then we could see the full-size photos! Otherwise not much point of a 3MP camera if all we get to see are downsized to 0.3MP size?

From my inneryard an hour ago. All camera settings are deault.

Posted by tkao2025
Yeah. the P1i's camera quality is not that great so far.....When I take photos the pictures are grainy and overexposed. When using the flash in lower lighting conditions the photos become too bright, but without the flash the photos are not clear. Why is it that the photos taken with the proto units are better?

Posted by qaz7d0
@tkao2025:

Conspiracy theory #45824: They mixed up the camera systems used for the P1i and the T650...

Not much sun here. Just cloudy and raining. Autofocus is on "REA HALVA PRISET"

Looks like my P1i's camera is not on par...

Some pictures from my p1. Not to bad I think.

Posted by proximo

I am satisfied so far with the picture quality (although yeah i think the k800 was slightly better

Posted by dr_thug
Can someone upload full size images??Like upload in imageshack..
So far,i am not very impressed by the photos here.

Posted by ajeetpv
@drthug

You won't be impressed with P1i camera. Don't expect with it. Afterall they are not cybershot phone. Its a smart phone with a decent camera.

Posted by qaz7d0
I've uploaded some to the Photo gallery here @ eSato... just search for my username.

Well I think the photos look pretty decent personally. Has anyone got a K800i AND a P1i, perhaps then we could have some direct comparison pics.

kankonq8 - Nice pics!.
These picture threads are always interesting, not only because of the chance to check out the image quality but also because of the chance to see excellent pics from where other esato's live

Two samples of pictures for comparing K800 and P1

K800i

P1i

Light Adjustment:
K800 image was taken with +/-0
P1 was taken with -1.3

Wow nice pic Merlyn101. I think that's the one I like the most so far.

Startail ~ I think your comparisons are a good way to go, though I think the P1i @ -1.3 is a little too dark. Can you try it at -0.7 or -0.3? Oh and I assume the photos were taken at the same time right? Looking at the two photos closer, is anyone else noticing that the P1i seems to be picking up more detail at the cost of noise. This could just be a focus issue but check out the "eye" in the wood just below the cross plank. Notice how the P1i picks up the "tree ring lines" with greater detail. But overall the P1i photo seems less smooth then the k800. Colorwise It'll be hard to compare since all our monitors are different, unless someone has ColorVision and wants to comment on it. Keep the photos coming guys...in the meantime I think I'll go and take some photos of my own with my P1i hehehehe ^^.

Do you take landscape photos with the autofocus turned off?

Posted by seunlock-uk
No, mine was taken with autofocus on, and I have been nothing but pleased with the quality from it so far.

All in all no complaints about the phone, it does exactly what is says on the tin.

I think the pics are damn good. To expect a camera phone to do what a camera does is silly. As far as comparing the k800i/k790a to the p1i , keep in mind that the k800i is a cyber shot phone, in other words it was designed to take really good pics. were the p1i is a smart phone with a really good camera.

Bornemouth

Posted by sunking101
That Bournemouth photo looks horrible! The clouds and sky point to it being nice weather yet the photo looks dark. It also looks blurry and the colours look dull. Was this just a bad photo or is the phone to blame?

Posted by mmac78uk
Afraid to say the P1i has a completely rubbish camera. I have had mine for 2 days now and most unimpressed with the camera on it.

They could have used the same lens as the K800i... but they haven't. My old 2mp K750i took much clearer pictures alongside my old K800i.

The P1i is just not a great camera phone at all, which is the one and only downside to it.

Posted by below24
But the P1 is not a dedicated camera-phone, you should remember that.

Posted by sunking101
If they've stuck on an auto-focus 3MP camera though, it may as well have been the one from the K800. I mean, why not? I find the P1i camera to be excellent for macro photography but distinctly average for anything else, which is a shame.

Yes but still using a 3.2mp camera... why the hell didn't they use a quality lens? makes no sense.

It's the lens that is a sham on it.

Posted by *Jojo*
I think this has a NOT-so-GOOD cam on it . . . considering those OUTDOOR-shots, I was expecting some sharper ones . . . the only NICE I've seen on this page is that of the RED tomato-shot !

Posted by antz88c
@jojo..

yes, the 3.2mpx is not really that good. a firmware update may correct it, (wishful thinking...) but for everyday point and shoot, P1i is "okay" for me.
