Rumors are circulating of a future Nokia Communicator E90 device which will be a direct successor to the Nokia 9500 and 9300.

According to the source the E90 it will have a 2-megapixel camera with auto focus, the support of HSDPA, UMTS, EDGE and Wi-Fi.

This is not a picture of the actual device but a sketch found in Nokia’s documents.

Well, well, well . . . look what do we have here Nice design (looks like a small-futuristic cash register ) I wonder how much will that cost

Posted by axxxr
I'm not a fan of the Communicator series, but if the actual handset will be anything like the sketch then things look promising.

Posted by *Jojo*
Yup, sure it is dude ! Nice - LCD !

Posted by shaliron
Looks better than the rest of the other older versions. Don't know aoubt the slider part though. Looks pretty delicate.

Posted by axxxr
If this is true, then i think its the best design by far for the series.

My sentiments exactly. I wonder why has stayed away from this segment, Their designs would've been good to see.
Remember the Sony Clie?

Hi all,
Ericsson has dabbled in this area in the past no one remember the MC218? at least that's what i think it was called. Which was very similar to a Psion with infra red connection to a phone.

wuaoooo

especificaciones?????

"Take this with a grain of salt, I honestly hate rumours because it builds up people's expectations of a device, and when the real thing comes out they are immediately let down because it isn't anywhere near what the leaked specs are.

I post this in fear that this too might be shenanigans, but something tells me I'll be surprised.

Some key points:

Next generation Nokia Communicator form factor
Screen on the front is 320x240
Screen on inside is 800x352
Has GPS
Dual cameras, one is on the back, several megapixels (number not given), and the typical camera (I think he means VGA) that are used for video conferencing
Production code: RA-6
Hinges are chromed out
330 MHz
WiFi and 3G support
Supposed to be announced in either December or January and launched in the Spring of 07"

this looks awesome.

i want i want!

Posted by imran_soorya
looks ugly... i would rather wait for its successor probably one similar to 9300. nokia is v smart.. it knows how to play with the psychology of its consumers. people would not mind compromising the looks for such fascinating specifications and the sales will boom and after a couple of months, nokia will come up with a good looking successor of this phone by compromising one of its precedor's feature as per the company's strategy and will not need to try hard to find buyers for this phone too. i m sure most of them wud be e90 users only. but there is a threat to it. if sony eric adopts series 60 ui which is the nokia's core competency then nokia will surely be in trouble.

@imran_soorya

Sorry but what are you saying as it doesn't make any sense this is the new Communicator range and Nokia does not release new versions every 5mins either. As for SE using S60 i somehow doubt that especially as they have just bought UIQ and are rumoured to be working on a non touchscreen version. As to Nokia having to worry about SE in the smart phone market never mind using S60 that's has to be one of the funniest things I've heard so far this year.

According to Engadget:

No GPS and 3.2 megapixel

Posted by batesie
interesting, dual hinge that allows it fold flat...

Posted by Jah
E90 has GPS and better picture now at: mobile-review

Posted by Super G
Well, the fact is the hinge is really stupid... and a non-sense.
First it opens 90degrees, then flat, and finally you can put it 135 or so degrees... Ridiculous if you ask me.

Otherwise it *is* a nice device with no longer that old Communicator UI, but something much better and found on other Nokia phones, at last.

Let's see what it can do when it comes out.

Yup!!
its Hot
Price Will Be Hotter!!

Nokia E90 also available in grey.

Posted by Yessir
Does this have aim? Also will it be out to any carriers?

Posted by prototype_bo
the front side of the phone looks rubbish, much like nokia low end phones (6020)

the interior is a piece of art. great balance between gorgeous screen and keypad. great design

the specs speak loud. smartphone based on S60 (better than the old used in 9500 ) GPS, 3.2 mpx cam, wifi ..

verdict : very very good

Posted by Bambino
hmm... nice one. i'll definetely get one! wait how about the PRICE?

Posted by bedull
The E90 look nice with all the specs it have but if you look into the weight its going to be something else (210 g), its not going to be easy to put in your pocket

Posted by BobaFett
its not a fone for pockets

Posted by dizel1024
when it should be out how can i put my hands on prototype?

Posted by bedull
Just heard that Nokia will launching the E90 on May 16 2007 at Ritz Carlton Hotel Jakarta, Indonesia

Nooo lol that silver looks crap!!

Posted by haynesycop
It looks rather dull & retro. Reminds me of those old motorolo black chunky phones with the stubby aerial, not sure why though lol.

Posted by Dogmann
Hi all,

The silver was a proto and is apparently not being realeased in that colour and this isn't really a fashion phone any way the majority of it's users are going to in the business segment where a more orthodox look is required.
But which ever why you look at it, it really is a stunning bit of kit if you need it and as it's release approaches i just don't know if i will be able to resist it or if i even want to.

The first unit of Nokia E90 Communicator sold in an auction today in Jakarta, Indonesia. A businessman won the auction by offering the amount of Rp45,000,000 (US$5,000) and got "the first E90 sold in the world".

This phone will launch globally next month.

The commercial E90 offers EDGE/UMTS, WLAN, HSDPA, GPS, Bluetooth and Infrared connectivity.

even, its crazy...

Posted by 912adam
looks like its got a very nice lcd but wonder how much it will cost

Posted by Dogmann
Hi Boba,

It's not really that crazy as the auction was for charity i think it was UNICEF that received the money, so the price paid had nothing to do with what was being sold.
