Having this firmware re-flashed at a sevice centre slightly changed the cusotmisation from the SEUS version, I now have the colourful walkman phone style EMS emoticons (Text Message > Add Item > Add animation)... Also the 3-Player has been removed from the desktop, now it's just a direct link to the normal Sony Ericsson Music player as on non customised phones (it does have a new custom icon though). These changes could be added to the SEUS version, but I can no longer check as I have them.

Accessing Firmware Information
To find out which firmware revision your phone currently has installed, select Menu > Settings > General > Update service > Software version. For more detailed software versioning information, perform the following:

SEUS will currently install the following firmware revisions for UK phone brands:
Sony Ericsson Update Service
The firmware of the K610 can be upgraded either over the air by selecting Settings / Update Service / Search for update or via the more traditional (and potentially cheaper) method of the Sony Ericsson Update Service. In order to use SEUS you will need to have internet access (preferably Broadband) and attach your phone to your PC via the supplied USB cable.
Note that the required firmware update drivers are present in the following directory after installing SEUS:
C:Program FilesSony EricssonUpdate Servicedrivers
If you run into problems, you may wish to download and install Sun's Java Runtime Environment separately.
If the firmware update fails part way through, retry the SEUS. If the update consistently fails you will need to perform a Master Reset on your phone. It is likely that you will be required to perform a Reset All - a settings reset is unlikely to do the job. It is recommended to use a tool such as MyPhoneExplorer to create a backup of the data on your phone before performing a Master Reset. Note that you will still lose any games, themes or ringtones present in your phone's memory.

Third Party Update Services
Third party firmware updates are available from Wotan Server. The use of third party solutions will theoretically void your warranty (although in practice the phone vendor is unlikely to notice) so should only be used in preference to SEUS for debranding purposes or updating a problematic phone locked out of SEUS by the service provider.

Just reflashed through Wotanserver my K610i in order to update EROM to v. R3A016 too since it is included with the firmware update to R1ED001.Does anybody know whats new or different with the new EROM,anything at all,anyone?

new firmaware (validated by orange france) released today on SEUS!!
It took about 5 mn to upload it on the phone.
changes I've seen:
- you must press during 2/3 seconds the quick-launch internet button to launch internet.
- some added functions in the included internet browser (I don't really know, because I never really explored them before)
- MMS screen is modified, such as new K800's
- "flight mode" is know written in french (I imagine it'll be written in choosen language). More logical for french users...
- Blog option is still not there...
- icons of the game correctly displayed.
- new version of main camera (3.0). Didn't see no change in photo mode, but video mode now have a X4 zoom and no recording time limit.
- the mobile seems to be faster, even in photo album menu.
- in transfert mode, new menus added: print pictures, an unknown one (that doesn't work) and an opera one (doesn't work no more).
- internet icon is different (flashing while browser is working on new page/link).

It can be explained by the fact that for a while K610's availability was an Orange exclusivity.

I've just updated my unbranded k610i via SEUS to the latest firmware R1ED001. My language group is EUROPE 4.
I guess then that the new firmware is available via SEUS for unbranded phones...
I also have a question.
After updating, my EROM still reads R3A011. I got a message from Wotan Server that it's an old EROM version. Doesn't SEUS update the EROM as well? And is the EROM update important?

Regarding my earlier question about EROM, I've read in a post about k800 firmware updates that SEUS doesn't update EROM at least not at the moment. We have to go to a service center or use Wotan to update EROM. It's a free update on Wotan, but you have to have at least one credit on your account.

Well, I've read in the firmware section for k800 that the erom is like the bios on a computer. It also has some bugs like white screen. I have sometimes experienced white screen after going through menues in my k610i. Now after updating to the latest firmware, instead of white screen, I can sometimes experience that the phone goes immedeately into standby modus (screen light turns itself off) when I push a button inside menues. I hope that might be corrected with an erom update. I know Wotan Server offers this, but I'm not sure if it's worth it since I have the latest firmware and have to have a credit on woltan to update the erom.
I was hoping someone who knows more about the erom can give me an advice.

Hi. Upgraded to R1ED001 a few days ago and have been missing SMS messages! Sent a test message to myself and found that the notificaton sound doesn't play. On further investigation I've found that trying to play the sound manually gives me the error message "Cannot play this sound". The sound in question is a Sony Ericsson MP3 file called 'Jangler', donwloaded from their WAP site. Has any one else found any problems playing this or any other MP3 sounds? The sound worked perfectly on the previous version of firmware.

Yes, I can confirm that some mp3 files can't be played after the firmware updates. I thought it was only my phone, but seeing this post, I am sure it's firmware related. Those are message alerts from SE Website: Jangler, Alien Noise and Pulse. They are playable in WinAmp, K750i, W800i, but not in phones with R1ED001 such as K800i and K610i.

Hi. I'm new here. I just bought a branded K610i (it says 3 is the brand) here in the Philippines, Open line, un-lock. Firmware version is R1CB001, EROM R3A011. I want to upgrade to the latest R1EJ001. I downloaded SEUS UpdateService_Inst_2.6.4.9.exe from sonyericsson.com. When I used it after installation, it said that I already have the latest firmware and will not proceed to upgrading the phone.
What should I do so that my phone will be upgraded to the latest? And if I upgrade to the latest firmware, will I still have an open line, un-lock phone?

upgraded my K610's software a few hours ago via SEUS. software version's now R1ED001.
the most useful/noticable improvement for me was the pressing of the internet button. no more accidental connections 'coz you have to press it for about 3 seconds to make a connection.

Then there must be something wrong with my K610i. It seems all I need to do to get connected to to press the globe button a split second and the phone will start connecting itself to the network... =(

I have noticed a charging bug, where all the icons show charging is taking place but the phone never fully charges...
If you reboot the phone it fully charges.

My K610i (latest HK firmware) has an extremely sensitive microphone. When I am in an ordinary restaurant, the background noise is too loud for the person on the other end of the line to hear what I am saying! Does anybody else have this problem? I exchanged my phone at the shop once because of this problem, but no difference. Then I brought it to SE and they changed my motherboard, but still no difference. Is it a bug with the latest firmware? Help please!

Not my operator. I used to have a K750i and then a W850i. Neither of those two phones ever had that problem. With my K610i, the microphone seems to pick up everything. In an empty room, it will pick up very clearly someone clicking their fingers at the other end of the room. In a quiet restaurant, all the other side can hear is the clinking of glasses and the ruffling of people moving. Something seriously wrong, but I'm baffled because I have exchanged my phone once and then SE replaced my motherboard on the replacement phone, without fixing the problem.

Haven't test any others except for my original one and the replacement one. But hard to imagine that two phones would have the same problem, if it was only a hardware glitch. And I don't seem to be hearing lots of other people say that it is a problem, so I don't know what the problem is.
