After looking through many topics i have noticed that a lot of people are having problems with their k800i, be it with the camera, the screen, contacts etc...
So post all your problems here and hopefully someone may be able to help you out.

So far my problems have been..
1) The 'Green Line' when recording video, id imagine this is to do with the firmware.
2)My screen appears to be 'Rippled' on the right hand side all the way down the screen, its barely noticeable but still a problem.
3)One of my contacts names does not show up when he rings me or sends me a text message, his name does not appear.

Thats it so far for me.

Posted by jcwhite_uk
Please post what firmware and branding that you have so we can compare. I have not had any of the faults that you have pointed out. I have a complete failure though, got it replaced easily.

Good thread, this way we can contain all of the problem posts rather than have them clutter up the board.

This is probably a stupid question but how do you open the memory card slot...i pull it but it doesnt give way and I dont wanna break it as I just got it!!

Also can I use my old memory stcik duo from my K750 in the new K800?

Posted by aminator
The K800is use M2 Micro memory sticks, not the pro duos anymore, so you will have to invest ina new one, also if you look at the phone from the side, you will see a slight gap on the right to get your nail in and pull the cover back, dont be shy about it, it goes back 90 degrees at least. HTH

Op, i do not think it is good ideas to have ALL of the problems in ONE Single Thread

This will seriously slow ppl down coz they simply can't search by their probelm. And you expect this thread to be 50 page long after a while? And ppl just come in and spend hours looking for their solution? Or you prefer ppl search the forum by type in "Font size"/"reset problem"/"joystick" and find what the want in few minutes?

We should keep similar problems/queries within one single thread but not like this

No offense but really not a good idea

1. It is a bug, everyone has that problem including me, won't show in replay

2. don' tknow

3. it has something to do with your operator or sim card. As far as i know, those problems do not come from the phone itself

@ Nick
It is tight, just add some force, it is made of soft plastic

Got 3 problems so far:

1. The green line when recording video

2. One of the contact name does not show up when the person calls og texts. Neither does the assigned picture and ringtone.

3. Unsaved numbers cannot be deleted...

Posted by UnholySinner
None of these problems seem to exist on mine, except the last one mentioned with the name not appearing. What i did was save all the contacts on to Sim and then it sorted itself out. Try it.. ?

Posted by SE Rules
I've also got the green line bug, but other than, its all peachy!

Cheers

Posted by taniame
the green line should not be a big problem anyway since it only appears during recording not playing

Posted by rajravat
when using a video ringtone for a contact and you have vibrate on, when they call, the phone stays vibrating even if they have hung up, until you check your phone.

this does not happen with non-video contacts

Posted by Minstrel_Man
I have the green line, and contact not appearing, nothing to do with the sim card at all. its the sim I used in my s700 i have multiple numbers for this contact and his names shows when he rings from his home or work, its just his mobile number that doesnt work.

its deffo a k800 specific problem

Posted by andbakk
The "contacts not showing" issue is now solved, I think... The problem is the K800, but the reason for the problem lies in the sim-card. I have tried my sim-card in another K800, and I get the same problems as I do on my own phone.

Although, putting that spesific contact on the sim-card helped me too. The name is now showing, but still no picture and ringtone.

This is deffo a bug in the K800, it just can't handle the sim-card correctly.

I have now ordered a new sim-card, so I'll just have to wait and see, but I'm pretty sure that will help.

does any one know how, when surfing on the html browzer, how to "save target as"?
I went on this website to download a link theme to my mobile be when i click on it. it just come up with garbage?
help anyone.
I don't have the means to download to pc first as i am at work,

@boman1882: That happens when the site you're browsing has an incorrectly set MIME-type for that file. The server is identifying the file as text/plain instead of a binary file, so the phone attempts to display it. This is common with theme and java sites, since .thm and .jar files don't have a default mime type in apache.

Posted by boman1882
so how do i get the theme onto my phone from the website? is there a way fround it just using your phone?

No problems.

I have a problem with sound in that it goes into silent mode randomly and cannot be taken out of it unless I turn it off and on. The silent icon doesn't come up it's just that the phone makes no noise (really irritating whn waiting for a phone call).

Anyone else have this problem?

Posted by boman1882
have you tried playing an mp3 file, cos on my old W800 it happpened rarely but i found playing an mp3 usually fixed it and sound was back as normal

Posted by escapee
Thanks I'll try that next time.

I had a strange bug on my K800 just now. I had taken a video sequence with the camera which I then sent as a MMS. When I went back to standby mode the desktop looked like this...

If went into the meny and back it was still the same, as if the phone took a screenshot of the phone's desktop at the time when I did exit the MMS and replaced my previous desktop with it...

It returned to normal after a reboot.

I have a really strange problem with my phone which made the SE helpdesk say like erhhhhhh.... we dont know take it back to the store!

After installing some games, a few days later i tried to play a game,
however, when i try to access the folders games/apps i get a popup message 'operation failed'
So i cannot do anything within those directories.

Another weird thing, i format my memory card and check mem stat, and everything is 0byte, but when i reboot the phone, and i look at memory status, it says games 4Mb and apps 850kb.

So there is something very wrong. Or it is some virus.
Or, which is the most likely, the whole filesystem of my k800 has been distorted somehow.

Another problem which my collegue has with this phone,
On random times, the phone whitescreen's, and reboots itself,
just on any random time

Annoying one today, although it may just be me.

Received my new M2 card today so bunged it in. Went to Camera album on the phone and wanted to move some pics to the card. So selected Mark All and then Move. Choose the location as Camera Album on the card and hit paste. Now it seemed to have not 'moved' the photos to the card as such, but to have copied them.

So, flicking back and forth in the file manager showed the photos existing in both Camera Album on the phone and the card. So, I deleted them all from the phone.

To my annoyance, the pics were deleted completely, from both locations.

I need to play with this some more tonight as that is damn annoying.

Just a simple query, wondering how do i get music playback through a bluetooth headset instead of the k800i's speaker?

Posted by Rajjy
Hello, by looking at the other K800i threads on Esato, I've noticed that I'm not the only one whose joystick doesn't operate in certain directions. There's a thread called "K800i problems with joystick...uh-oh" (or something like that). Have a read for some suggesions on how to fix it (...with wd-40!). Going back to this thread... I think the speaker ain't all that brilliant. Also had a few problems early on when after I've changed the shortcut keys (joystick left, right, up or down) to commonly used features, whenever I rebooted the phone, the right directon key (which I changed from whatever the default was to profiles) would go back to default (which may've been alarms). But thats since cleared. So apart from the sticky joystick, and the usual miniscule delay when doing anything which has blighted my previous 3 SE phones, thats about it. Wasn't a really big fan of the lens cover at first, but its a cosmetic annoyance (albeit it very tiny one).

1)

When I connect my K800i to printer Canon iP4200 via USB cable which support PicBridge function .. it always give me a message "application / printing error" so I can't print my photo directly from my K800i . ..

2)

Alarm in the morning, there is no way to stop it, just snooze and will appear again after 9 minutes, the only way to turn alarm off is turning my K800i on

3)

When connect my bluetooth handset, the profile on K800i will not automatically change, I have to set it manually

4)

My DS970 will not show a name of music (but caller ID is working fine)

Hi guys a few questions for any K800i owners out there.

Yesterday I swapped my w800i for a w810i and regretting it already. So I'm thinking about going for k800i instead but need to know a few things:

1) Is there a stand by clock? i.e. when the phone is sleeping a clock will appear on the screen going up and down, and also show an envelope for texts, etc. This was on the w800 but removed on the w810i.

2) I do use the mp3 function a lot. Does the k800i have an MP3 play button anywhere on it? Does it have the same MP3 player software as the w800i?

3) Has anyone upgraded from w800i to k800i? are there any other major things missing which you have found? is the k800i upgrade worth it?

I got rid of the w800i as I needed a more professional looking phone. I guess if the k800i doesn't meet the above I guess I'll go back to the k750.

Cheers for any help

Yes there is a standby clock which shows missed call icon and sms text icon but the backlight goes off pretty quickly and you cant specify how long you want the back light on for.
Yes the k800i has a mp3 play button, same place as the w810i and works well. It wont and does not have the same mp3 software as the w810i or w800i...those are walkman phones...this is a cybershot phone which means the camera is the main selling point. But the mp3 player works really good and you can still manually set the eq to how you want it.
Your 3rd question i cant answer as i dont or never have owned a w800 but i do have a w810i...which is now used by my mum and i have a k800i and i think its well worth it. I didnt upgrade but bought the k800i sim free for a bloody good price on ebay...brand new and sim free for less than £200.

Thanks for the quick reply spawn!

Well it sounds like its worth a try. I'm about to get a T-Mobile contract so I'll go with the k800i instead of waiting for the w850.

I'm just a bit confused about what you said regarding the clock... basically I leave my phone in my room and when I come back I just like to see the phone to see if I have any texts or missed calls without pressing a button (which I have to do with the w810). Would I still have to do this with the k800i? Or does a text icon stay on like the w800/k750?

No as far as i can see on the k800i, you would still have to press the button to see if you have any missed calls/sms texts. As i said the light doesnt stay on, goes off after 5 secs max. Once you press a button then the backlight comes on and you can see the missed call/sms text icon. But as i said it doesnt stay on for long.

Hi peeps, am new to this forum!

I've just got a shniy new K800i, but am puzzled by a couple of things...

1. Can you turn up the volume for the message alert? I like my 'Ding-Dong' to wake the whole building?

2. There's an intermittant icon in the top left, next to the signal strength. it's kind of white, with a blue eclipsed circle thing on it. Any idea what it is and how to turn it off?

Cheers

That icon is to show that you have a 3G signal. You can turn it off by going into Settings, Connectivity, Mobile Networks, GSM/3G networks, and selecting GSM Only. This apparently prolongs the life of the battery a bit, but then defeats the whole point of having a 3G phone innit. As for turning up the volume for the message alert... I think the volume of the alert is linked to the volume of the ringtone. Have a high ringtone volume, set it to ascending (so that when someone does calls you, it builds up rather than scares the shit out of you), and hopefully the message alert will go off at the volume of the ringtone. Make sense? Alternatively, I don't know whether this is true or not, if you leave the volume in the MP3 player at maximum when you've finished listening to music, the message alert should go off at that volume. Try both. I'm not hundred percent sure, as I use the "click", as even with my ringtone volume setting at 3, anything else was too loud!

For volume use the side buttons and press it till all the little green circles are full up.
That icon is the 3g icon, it will come on if your in a 3g area and are connected to it.

I had a W800i before I got my K800i. There isnt really anything the W800i had that the K800i doesnt except the walkman part, good headphones and a memory card.
The mp3 player is very similar to the W800i player except the video player is seperate and it doesnt have mega bass.
I dont think you would regret the upgrade.

The K750i? Are you mad? The K800i is better! When you've returned to a room and you want to see if you've got any missed calls/texts, just press the volume up/down button, and you'll see an envelope or an arrow. Yeah, the light only stays on for about 5secs, but thats long enough. In a well lit room, you won't even have to press the button to activate the backlight, as the envelope/missed call icon will clearly be visiable... as is the clock. Anyway, the K750i isn't 3G.

Isn't there a thread already that is doing the exact same thing? Why create two?

3G isn't important to me.... but wait now I'm confused!! You say that the envelope/missed call icons are clearly visible on the phone? So it does show even when on standy by?!

The really annoying thing abou the w810i is that when I leave it for a minute or so the screen goes completely blank, I can't even tell if its on or not - I don't want to have to press a button on the phone to look if I've got a text or not! I know its a silly thing to judge a phone on, but its these little things that I'm interested in.

Yes you can see the clock, envelope and missed call icon in standby mode. You may have to activate it though in the settings (Sleep Mode Clock = On). You only really need to press the button to activate the backlight at night.

I've had my k800i since end of June on o2. No problems. Switched off this arvo and the sodding thing will not turn back on. White screen constantly and tried everything. I hadn't dropped it, put it near water or anything. I have a date tomorrow with a very hot girl and my number is on the damn phone. NOT HAPPY AT ALL. Anyone had this problem? I think the battery must just be rubber ducked after 3 crappy months.

I real like this phone, but this must be the dumbest feature ever on a cellphone.
When I play music with "music player" and turn down the volume, it also turns down the volume of the message alert!!!!

Well I Took my phone to an O2 shop today and it wasn't the battery so its been sent off as they think its a software problem. Oh joy. I dont have my mobile for 1-2 weeks. And they didn't have a spare for me. I appreciate things go wrong with phones but not when you just turn the thing off and try to turn it back on. Seems like this phone has many bugs doesn't it. Also screwed my date up. Thankyou SE and o2!!!!
