Anyone seen these? Same as HPM-70 but with a remote to control volume, change tracks and to play/pause music. Plus they're black! Seem pretty cool.

I'm thinking of buying some black HPM-xx stereo headphones to go with a W800i, du think it'll look any good or will the silver ones go better du think? Black lookes abit better cuz it's all the same colour (instead of two say like grey/silver).

yep, and there are other new headsets announced this week

Music sounds better with Sony Ericsson accessories

Posted by Hardcheck
personally i dont like those in ear phone they use

the ones which came with the k750i are better. those ones (particulary the left ear due to the weight pulling down from the mic) keep falling out my ear, very annoying

Posted by jcwhite_uk
I use my HPM-70s all the time. I dont have trouble with them coming out.

Posted by bugsiiy
how much will these cost? approximately?

Posted by jcwhite_uk
I would have thought about £25 to £30

Posted by bugsiiy
thx,i wonder if it will work with w800,because if w800 doesn't have the connectors made for remote nor does the walkman player then it would be useless for me

Well this new SE remote should work with W800i, I've been using the Touch remote for a while now, and it's perfect. The SE remote seems smaller than the Touch one, and that would be a good thing!

HPM-82 + K750/W810
The harmonious couple

Ive seen that touch remote b4, does seem interesting- but i think it woz the high price that put me off (how much did it cost ya?). Du guys think these hpm-82 black earphones will go well wit the white and orange colour of the w800i? (they shud make sum in white- how cool wud that be?!)

Got the Touch remote for 20$US from HK on Ebay. I really like it! I use it for running, it's really practical.
The SE HPM-82 seems really cool though, can't wait for someone on Esato to try it.

Posted by Ben-
The SE HPM-82 may look appealing but the added remote will, like others have said, add weight to the overall drag and cause unconvience.
They should have atleast made a complete new look with the mic in the remote set much like the Touch remote that also has a clip. This way it has less cord tangle and less bulk.

Posted by cletus141
Is Touch the manufacturer of that remote? i'm having a hard time finding it thru google.

thanks

Posted by coo1k3n
They've got this one from mobilefun.co.uk called the 'Music Remote Handsfree' thats exactly the same as the 'Touch' remote which is abit strange (perhaps loadsa companies just put their branding on it)...

£22 is a bad price. I might get one when its released.

Posted by shaliron
SE should bundle this with the next generation of phones. Pity if they didn't. Otherwise, I'll have trouble getting one in Australia.

Posted by Snoopy
Does anybody know if the remote on the HPM-82 is connected to the headphone cable or the cable connected to the socket? You can't really tell by the pictures from SE... Cos it would be really silly if I couldn't use the remote with my own headphones.

Posted by randomtask77
I think it's similar to the HPM 70 but between the mic/button and the connector is the actual remote.

Posted by IRFCA_WDG-3A
I really don't see the advantage of the HPM-82 over the HPM-70 - how much of an advantage is the remote anyway? The media player is as easily controllable from the phone itself.
(Had there been some cool LED displays and stuff a-la the W900's headset, then fashion would have overtaken logic, and I'd have got myself one )

Posted by shaliron
Well the remote makes it easier to control playback. It's the little things that matter. mcuh easier than unlocking the phone etc.

Posted by aka Dus
I like the HPM-65 with the ear hooks.

looks like they dont 'plug' all the way in to the ears and the hooks are great when moeing the lawn or out with the dog (personally I don't like to listen to music while exercising... a soundtrack for torture is not appealing )

With the HPM-70 and W800, I don't need to unlock the phone to skip tracks, play/pause, adjust volume, go to the previous/next track.

Posted by bugsiiy
@shaliron W series is already made special for music, you have the control buttons on the side of the phone,so unless you carry your phone in your backpack you shouldn't need those headphones, because you can reach to your pocket and even press the button through your clothes

Posted by max_wedge
K750 also has the music button, and the volume/track advance button (I thought all SE's with media players had these buttons, not just W series?)

I like the look of the remote, atleast it's smaller than the touch src jobbie. As others say though, it's pretty easy to advance/retard tracks, play, pause, and adjust volume using the phone by touch alone, so there seems no real advantage to the remote.

Actually, it would be usefull to me while riding, so I'll probably get it for that purpose, but otherwise I wouldn't use it often.

Posted by randomtask77
Though it's true that the remote seems unnecessary, but for folks like myself that keep the phone in a case where the buttons are not readily accessible, this is a must.

I use the newer MRH-200 remote with the K750 a lot, and I would like to be able to get a remote for my K790 (not yet sure if the MRH is compatible with the K790) and have the ability to switch track and adjust the volume without having to remove the phone from the case.

Posted by j600.com
i think they look pretty cool but i agree £22 for them seems a bit steep. im wanting to use my k800i more like a mp3 player tho so i might end up having to fork out for them. the ones i got with my k800i seem a little bit naff. will these ones with the remote still work as the radio transmitter?

Posted by utsavtalwar
hey ppl...just in..the hpm 82 are out..
please confirm about the sound with k790/k800 and more importantly the bass..
hope its better than hpm 70 and we get a sound improvement on the phone without megabass...

please reply(review)
cheers

Those who wishes to purchase the HPM-82 for their P990i, note that SE has removed this from their supported list Geez... first I discovered MXE-60 being removed from supporting SE's flagship phone, the P990i, now HPM-82 too... So what's next that the P990i CANNOT SUPPORT?

http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]1_1&zone=pp&lm=pp4_1&pid=10471

Posted by masseur
my HPM-82 was delivered today but I won't see it for a couple more hours when I get home

I'll let you know then if its compatible with M600/P990 though I don't really see why it wouldn't be, though I can understand why the MXE-60 wouldn't be

Posted by jepherberich
why wouldnt the mxe-60 be, masseur? it's got fastport, it's got an autofocus camera (the w550 doesnt even have AF but it's supported), and it's supposed to be the be-all-end-all flagship device.

unless it's they give us the same cr*p reason that imaging and walkman accessories should only work for their respective lines.... pfft....

Posted by Vypr
Anyone with a K750 try this yet? The original headset that came with my K750 broke today and I'm looking to buy a new headset.

Posted by utsavtalwar
please try hpm 82 with k800.790 and please confirm if volume and bass has
improved over hpm 70'

hopee it has really hoping
cheers

I can confirm full compatibility with K750, K800, P990, M600 and Z520 (as they are the only fast port phones I have with me at present)

here are some pics

Thanks masseur for confirming HPM-82 works on your P990i. But why did SE remove P990i and M600i from all its HPM-82 product website globally? It was orginally there in May 2006. I have been informed by my local SE support on numerous occasions to check on these websites for "compatibility" and this just shows that the websites cannot be relied on. I mean, I am positive that if I call up my local SE support today, they will most definitely check out the same websites that I had visited and then report to me that NO, HPM-82 is not supported on P990i...

As for MXE-60, why wouldn't it be supported on the P990i? It was clearly being listed as supported accessory for P990i over at SE's webbsite before Aug 2006, when I last checked in July 2006. I then proceed to purchase the MXE-60 in advanced, only to realised it does not work on my P990i at all. A quick check back to SE's website shows P990i has been quietly removed, just like HPM-82, and I had wasted my $$$ in purchasing the MXE-60 and no, in my country, I cannot get any refund...

Edit: Hi masseur, can you or someone with HPM-82 and P990i check to see if the remote also works for P990i's FM apart from its music player? Can you change to next presets, adjust volume, etc? Thanks in advance.

Wow its amazing how SE markets these so called "new products" and slap a high price tag on it when they are just slight alterations of the HPM-70.

Although i admit the control panel is a beauty, but they are STILL ultilizing that small clip! They should have at least slightly extended the size of the clip longer (or fatter)so for a firmer grip on clothing and made it part of the mic.

For those who already purchased it, does it feel any different from the HPM-70 (weight-wise while clipped on)?

Posted by stefa
Can the hpm-82 fast forward with the buttons (I<< >>I), or only skip track supported?

Posted by abbafan1972
Look really nice. Was thinking about buying these, but already have a pair of K750i headphones and 2 pairs of HPM-70's anyway.

Posted by masseur
...none of which match these HPM-82's

I was very skeptical when I got mine but now having used them for 2 days I'm actually quite impressed by the sound quality and obviously the control

one major upset is that the start/pause button only starts the music player even if the last thing you did was listen to the radio. So in that respect it doesn't work like the left hand entertainment button meaning if you want to use the radio you have to start it from the phone

apart from that... well worth the money!

is it a very long cable? it looks canny long by the pics.

Hi masseur,

for Music on P990i, does the ffw and rrew actually skips or rewind to the next and previous song respectively, or actually performaing a fast forwarding and fast rewinging?

Also, on the P990i FM, can you use the remote to change stations?

Lastly, what about volume control? Does the max vol pushes P990i's volume even higher cos as we all knew, P990i's media player's volume is really quite low hence it will be an added advantage if HPM-82 can push its volume higher.

Thanks in advance.

Posted by utsavtalwar
hey

masseur please if possible confirm if the sound output and bass on the k800/k790i using hpm 82 has improved over hpm 70 coz hpm 70 volume on k790 is sooo low..
will really appreciate a reply ...

cheers

Using a K750i (with R1CA021 firmware), the HPM-82 can:
- Start media player / radio / last run (according to your settings)
- Stop media player / radio / last run (according to your settings)
- Go to previous track (media player)
- Go to next track (media player)
- Raise volume (media player / radio)
- Lower volume (media player / radio)

but can't:
- Go to next radio station
- Go to previous radio station
- Go to next preset radio station
- Go to previous preset radio station
- Do fast forward in media player
- Do fast rewind in media player

It's a little slower than phone control buttons (mostly for the volume control).

For every control on the remote I tried to click and to click and hold the button (we never know...).

Hope it helps.

Quality is good, but I didn't do any comparison with HPM-70 (that I own too) at his moment. Certainly later on...

Posted by utsavtalwar
it will be really apprciated if someone compares sound of hpm 82 on k800i to that with hpm 70 ..
really appreciate.
cheers
