I've never used a bluetooth headset before so am unfamilar with exactly what can be done with it.

I have a motorola handsfree and have it successfully paired and working with my K750i.

However, do I have to leave Bluetooth 'ON' all the time, or will switching to the paired profile turn it on automatically?

Is leaving bluetooth on much of a power drain? Or a security issue?

General bluetooth advice much appreciated!

i don't have a k750 so i'm basing my answers on the z600.

yes, you do need to leave the on, but it is not a substantial power drain. it is also not much of a security risk unless you are worried about bluesnarfing - but since it is such a little known phenomenon and requires some specialised software i doubt it's a real issue for most people. however, changing the visibility setting on your phone should pretty much negate this.

you can on esato for more details on all this.

What model moto headset are you using?. I just found a hs810 and would like to pair it with a Z600.

Yes I am talking to you. I found a HS810 at the airport. Some poor soul lost it when he got out of his rental car. His loss is my gain. Anyway, I bought a charger and charged it. Then I paired it with my gf's Z600 and it has been working pretty good so far. She only used it for one day so far.

I don't know if it is ithe same with your gf's one, but I have 'discovered' (or think it is the case!) that mine emits a periodic beep if there is no signal from the phone. This isn't mentioned in the handbook and was very unnerving at first.

I mention it just in case this helps!

Another question:

As I said, I have a motorola hs820 paired with my 750i. Whilst voice diallg seems to work well with the wired hedset, the BT one seems not to recognise the names. It is as if they are too faint for the phone to hear. Any handy hints on how to deal with this?

as i posted here:

you need to record the voice tags via the bt headset

this thread also has a few helpful pointers, although it is for z600 and hbh-65.

if you try the you should come up with a few other useful threads

@Gelfen

Thanks for these pointers. FYI... I did try recording via the BT headset, but I haven't been able to get the phone to do that yet (It is as if it hasn't heard it)

I did try searching .. albeit not well enough

Am now rushing over to read the threads yuo so kindly pointed me to.

Thanks

no worries. the search function can take a bit of getting used to.

try searching for "bluetooth, voice dialling", and other similar variations.

@gelfen

Sorry to be a pain.. did the search, adn I get that I need to record the names via the BT headset, but I can't work out how to do that. The phone says "record after the beep" adn there is no beep on the head set. Tried psuhing the button on the headset to see if that activated it, but it made no difference.

I'm using the Motorola HS820.

Any ideas???

i'm not very familiar with the moto headsets, but i would expect it to have some sort of reset function. it may also be a compatability issue between the moto headset vs. an SE phone.
