i seem to have problem uploading images with 1mb+ size, is there a file size limit? or some workaround to upload 1mb+ sized pics?

No, shouldn't be any limit. We've seen 6mb or more in picture size. Whatever it is, it shouldn't be because of the site. You could try saving them with a better compression ratio to stay under 1MB if you don't find the problem.
