Producted to attract attention
For Sony Ericsson it all started by producing first coloured screen mobile phone, popular Sony Ericsson T68i. Then feature market needs forced them to produce more and more, to make inovations and lead mobile market tothe future... So, Sony Ericsson T610 came up (we will not mention T630, because models are pretty much the same), and then also Sony Ericsson K700i. Booth of their new phone were marked as "born winners".
So, next expected phone (Sony Ericsson K750i) had very hard mission... To keep Sony Ericsson on winning tracks. And as it seems until now; Sony Ericsson is on a right way to again reach the top.
Mobile Phone Package
Package is pretty much usual as with all other mobile phones, and it contain following:
- Mobile Phone Sony Ericsson K750i
- Li-Polymer Battery 900mAh
- Charger
- Manual
- USB 2.0 Data Cable + PC Suite Software
- 64 MB Memory Stick Duo
- Stereo headset
Introduction
It's a real miracle that so many good functions fit into such a small device. Phone is available in two different colours: "business" black (officialy: Oxidized Black) and normal gray colour (officialy: Blasted Silver). Personally we like the Oxidized Black version more.
In the designers way, Sony Ericsson K750i is phone with attitude, and pretty much similar to previous Sony Ericsson phones (T610;K700i) - so that means straigh lines. Phone looks like that it is created just for serious business people. When you place it vertical it looks like normal mobile phone, but when you put it into horizontal position it becomes digital camera. Amazing!
Keyboard is lightened by clear white light wich has great visibility in dark conditions. The camera objective is located under the cover at the back side. Cover is used to protect lens from dust. Above the objective we can see two very strong led diods wich are used as a flash. The whole back side looks like some very modern digital camera, only the Sony Ericsson logo discovers that we are looking at mobile phone.
The Menu
Phone menu is very similar to Sony Ericsson K700's one and it contains following sub-menus:
- Your GPRS Connection
- Internet Services
- Entertainment
- Camera
- Messages
- Media Player
- File Manager
- Contacts
- Radio
- Calls
- Organizer
- and Settings
Screen itself can show up to 262k colours on a 176 x 220 pixels display. Visibility at the sunny conditions is good. Also, under the screen there is new button for calling up shortcuts (at any time).
Finnaly, the Real Camera
2 mega-pixels. Yes, you've read it well. This phone can take photos with quality up to 2 mega-pixles - resolution up to 1632 x 1223 pixels. Picture quality is better than all other GSM mobile phones curently available on the market.
First four photos are taken in my home town, next four on soccer (football) game Cibalia Vinkovci vs Dinamo Zagreb, and all other pictures were taken on Croatian coast while we were on holiday. In few different locations - Split, Trogir, Primosten...
Now lets say few more words about camera and its application. Application starts by itself when we move the cover down, and logicaly - when you close the cover camera application is off.
Camera can also be used as a lamp when you are in some dark places. We've tested it on very dark Croatian roads between Primosten and Rogoznica and flash helped us very much to navigate.
Sony Ericsson K750i camera has one very interesting functions called - Auto Focus. And that's automatic picture focusing and sharpening. When you softly press camera button picture will be focused and sharpened and then you should take it.
Camera also have 4x digital zoom and all kinds off different functions as for example: macro, night, flash and self timer mode. Also few interesting effects: black & white, negative, sepia and solarize.
Multimedia Possibilities
if some mobile phone can be called "multimedia phone" then for sure first place must be reserved for Sony Ericsson K750i. Phone can play MP3/AAC with pre-installed Multi Media Player, it has support for FM radio with RDS signal. Phone comes with well known Music DJ program, and now with more new programs for makind and editng videos and pictures; Video DJ and Picture DJ.
Connectivity
The Sony Ericsson K750i has really lots of connectivity possibilities.
Lets start with data cable that is included in the phone's package. It supports full USB 2.0 fast transfers between the PC and the Phone. We have successfully installed Sony Ericsson PC Suite. Installation went without single problem. All was working normal - GPRS connections, phonebook synchronization, etc. But there is one thing we couldn't make it working. And that is official Sony Ericsson File Manager. Even when we downloaded newest official PC Suite from Sony Ericsson home page problem was still here.
Also, we've tested phone compatibility with some non-official programs that work just like official Sony Ericsson PC Suite. Everything went fine, even famous File Manager that is not working with official PC Suite.
Phone also has infra red (IrDA) port. We have decided to test it with few different devices, because we know people use IrDA port very much. It was tested with: Gericom BlockBuster NoteBook for PC GPRS connection, with Nokia 7610, Siemens S65 and SL65 for file transfers. We have not detected any incompatibilities or problems while doing tests and transfers. Bravo for Sony Ericsson !
We cannot forget Bluetooth support. We have tested compatibility with Gericom BlockBuster lapotop via MobyMemory Bluetooth Dongle (Windows XP Plug n Play), but also compatibility with following mobiles - Nokia 7610 and Siemens S65. GPRS connection was fast like with IrDA port, and file transfer between Nokia and Siemens phone ended without any problem. Again Sony Ericsson has proven us that they think about end-users.
Memory Capabilities
Phone itself has only 32 Mega Bytes of memory, but Sony Ericsson again saved the day by including Memory Stick Duo slot and 64 MB Memory Stick Duo in the phone package.
But of course, that was not enough memory for this test and guide, so MobyMemory provided us 1 GB SandDisk Memory Stick Duo card!
Messaging
Sony Ericsson K750i supports all well known messaging types: SMS, MMS, E-Mail and instanta messaging when you install aditional Java Messaging program (for ICQ, MSN, AOL and Yahoo).
SMS Support is usual like with most other new Sony Ericsson phones. Only thing we complain about SMS system is that messages cannot be saved on MS Duo card. So when it says "Text Message Memory Full" you need to delete some of them. This can be big problem for people that are used to communicate to many pepople via SMS, and store lots of messages into their inbox.
MMS support is also well know. As in all other Sony Ericsson phone. It supports multiple frames. We can add pictures, videos, sounds and sound recording sessions.
E-Mail client is also included in mobile phone software. We can have multiple mail account. This option is great for people that have more than one mail box (including us). We can add signature, send attachments, set up checking interval, etc.
Gaming and Applications
Phone supports Java Technology based Java Games and Applications. Lots of this files can be found in our download section! Phone supports 3D games because it has 3D graphical processor. There are 3 games and 2 applications pre-installed: Aero Mission 3D, PuzzleSlider and Super Real Tennis... HP Print and 3D World Clock.
We can easily add more games and applications by transfering *.Jar file into phone. As we said, lots of games and applications can be found on this website.
Battery
Battery itself is also good. It can fit into everyone's needs. During this test we recived around 10 calls, 20 SMS messages and few e-mails daily. We used GPRS connection alot and battery lasted for around 2 days. Comparing to for example Nokia 7610 or Siemens S65 it is great!
Competition
Only Sony Ericsson K750i competitor we can think about can be Nokia 6230i... We will not count any of Symbian based phones. But, there's not much to think about: Sony Ericsson K750i has much better screen and manu, better camera + camera's flash, 3D Games, DJ Programs, more memory, better voice functions and higher capacity battery.
We can also try to compare this phone to our previous phones (Nokia 7610, Siemens SX1, S65, SL65, CF62, M65, S55) but again Sony Ericsson wins the battle. It has a taste of a real winner. It's a winner already! Just buy it and enjoy it! Like we did.
p.s.
Don't forget to go to MobyMemory.Com (UK based company) to see their Sony Ericsson K750i accessories offers. They can offer you MS Duo Cards, BT Dongle (Windows XP plug n play) and also MS Duo Card reader. All accessories were cafefuly tested during this test and they are fully compatible with Sony Ericsson K750i.
Again, we must thank MobyMemory for supporting us in this Sony Ericsson K750i guide and review and giving us needed accessories!

Nice review. The first few lines are wrong though.
The T68i wasnt the first colour screen phone as Siemens produced one a couple of years before the T68 was released. |

It was not full colour screen mobile. It only had 3 colour. It was Siemens S25.
Don't worry. I am very aware of that...
edit:
I am not sure if any of you remeber the Siemens S25. Have a look at http://www.s25-world.net/

I don' know really as you quote the first colour mobile as the T68i. The T68 was released nine months earlier than the T68i. It was in this order so you can get your facts straight T68, T68m, T68i

Errrr..... "Exclusive" review? the K750 have been out for some time and been subjected to many reviews before yours so it can hardly be called an "exclusive" review.
Thats my 2 eurocents. |

The order actually went T68m, T68i as the T68 was the T68m |

No the T68 was the original. I know cos I had one the day it came out in the UK, got it from carphone warehouse. It was always crashing too, different firmware. Then I was sent the T68m with updated fimware as a replacement. There were a few minor changes on bluetooth and gaming.

I confirmed with one of the experts in the Ericsson forum with this reply which I thought was correct all along:
The Ericsson produced ones were just T68m's and T68mc's (Chinese model), though the faceplates were printed only as T68. My feeling is that just for cost reduction, not to have have two kind of faceplates for differnt markets.
