How long have you been with O2. It is not unusual for Service providers to charge a deposit when you have roaming activated on an account that has been open for only a short period of time. I suspect if you try them again they will say that it is a refundable deposit.

it is back up for the companies because of delays in charging and you could end up with minus credit if someone calls you or leaves you voicemail (happened to me once).
The 100 would cover the charges that maybe some people that might to try to scam off the telephone companies if they did not make these charges.
It is a very wise idea.

It really does depend on how long you've been connected and if you've kept up to date with your payments |

I have never had a problem with O2. Customer services have always been quick to answer and been knowledgable for me and I have never had any dropped calls or problems with texts. They even forget to charge me for my GPRS so they cant be too bad. |

Re: Deposit, the reason you were asked for a deposit is to do with you're credit rating. this is based on you're average yearly spend, credit score and how promptly you pay you're bills. Deposits can be held for up to 12 months. I used to work for o2 and they are b******s to work for, thats why I walked in one morning and told my manager exactly where to stick the job - Really enjoyed it!!!! |

I thought i read that O2 were one of the top places to work for in the UK. Anyway im with O2 pay and go for just over a year now. Customer service is good with calls answered most of the time very quick. Never have dropped calls or problems with texts though i do experience alot of problems with internet. Sometimes it wont connect for hours on end in the daytime. But despite this i dont leave cos they provide best value for pre pay. 3G is also pants. Anyway when i used to be on contract i found that some networks will credit check you before you go abroad if you require the service. Just get a sim card for going abroad from CPWH much cheaper with no big bills. |

3 months into my contract with Vodafone I asked if they could lift the international block of my account they did this without any hestitation,
I do send a few international messages so I pressume thats probaly why they lifted it for me
they also lifted another block which Vodafone have some Parental Block,
where you cannot browse certain sites, bit odd that one I think,
still might be a good idea for kiddiewinks

Just to make this completely clear, you can't 'blame' O2 for this, the whole deposit thing is unique to each invididual and their credit score/rating.
Clearly the original poster has bad credit, hence the deposit.
And in reflection to this, MissUK has probably got better credit, hence no deposit.
My opinions on this forum are that of my own and not of the company I work for. |
