Folks

I've currently got 3 K750i's - and have access to 1,000 more (and a few W800's too). I have access to four PC's at home and some 600 at work. All have internal USB2 ports.

I've tried my 3 K750i's, a number of the phones @ work and a mate's D750i. And I can't get any of them to charge over 90% via the USB cable.

Anyone out there having the same problem, or has anyone's phone/PC combination actually managed to charge the phone over 95%?

The likely hood is that the USB port isnt supplying enough current. USB2 supplies more current than USB1. Try charging using a powered hub as they can supply a high current.

Thanks for the info, JC.

Did a port test on a number of works PCs and we get around 4.96v / 490mA from the front mounted USB2 ports. That's within USB specs and its higher than the AC adaptor (4.9v / 450mA). So they should charge higher than 85(ish)%, yes?

I don't know its very strange,

eg: if I fully charge my phone with the wall charger in the morning and plug it into the USB 2.0 port when I get to work the battery steadily goes down to 85% battery life and stays constantly at that level. Maybe its a firmware issue??

I noticed this... with my fully charged K750, plugged into my computer... charge went to "charging 86%" and stayed at that for about 15minutes, before I unplugged it and charged it again at the wall.

I reckon it's a firmware 'bug'...

No problems charging my ipod mini from my USB ports!

When You insert the USB cable, does it say "Charging" or "Optimized Charging"?
With "Charging" it wont get to 100%.

Well, I've asked our SE account manager for more details. She should get back to me tomorrow sometime.

Anyway, I can charge my iRiver H340 MP3 player and Fujitsu Seimens Pocket Loox 720 PDA with the same USB2 ports I'm attempting to charge any of the K750i's I have access to.

AND - the CST-60 AC adaptor is rated at 4.9v, 450mA. That's not as high as the rating on most of the work desktops I'm attempting to charge from!

I've heard something about it only trickle charges it via USB to a maximum of 85% however that is very weird that if you plug it in when it is above 85% that it goes down to 85%, I would expect it to not change at all

Well, here's what SE UK says about USB charging...

Quote:
With regards to your enquiry, the DCU-60 is not designed to be a charger, this is just an added feature of the USB cable, it designed to boost the charge of your handset while it is connected to your PC. If you wish to have your handset fully charged then we would advise you to use the CST-60 charger which is provided with your K750i.
