This may be violating a rule, but I'm gong to give it a go anyway! (Sorry mods!)

I'm toying with the idea of getting one of those personal media players, you know the type of thing, those things which can play MP3, video, show photos, etc.

Does anyone have one spare, and how much would it be? It has to be one that I can set up to record things off the TV, and be able to schedule recording if possible (a bit like a VCR).

If you have one spare, pm me/post here, I might be interested in having it off you! Budget's a bit limited (as ever) but try me

@defensive - yes, that's exactly the thing!

I'm starting a new job soon, and will have to work a few nights, one of these would be idea for whiling away any slow moments (whilst ensuring any work that needs doing is done, of course!)

How much you looking to spend on one of them? That model is very good and comes highly recommended only downside is the £250 price tag :P I personally just use my top spec Vaio (13.3" screen) as its extremely powerful and compact, but cost me almost £2000 lol. Anyway i'm just trying to keep this thread alive for you and i hope that someone may have one for sale. Chris

Thanks Defensive! I'm just looking for a cheapie at the moment tbh.

I found a cheap one, perhaps a suspiciously cheap one on Ebay,. It's a no name one that comes 'direct from the manufacturer in China'. If it can be set up to record off the TV I might give it a go anyway.

What do people think of that one then? Too cheap and cheerful?

The seller accepts western union (i dont trust anyone who uses that) so that would stop me from bidding straight away

Also there is no shipping costs or insurance mentioned on the page, just use your common sense and after all its your money.

Apparently the p +p is £12.95 - I'm a bit dubious about this one myself, though he looks trustworthy the product looks suspiciously cheap and I suspect I'd be disappointed with it!

that one only has a maximum storage of 2Gb, it uses SD/mmc cards.so i reckon thats why its so cheap.

not sure thats what you want, i have an ipod with 20Gb just for music, id go for the HD option. say 20Gb?

check out, http://www.advancedmp3players.co.uk

a company that seems to specialise in this gadget is archos. they would be an option.

or id reckonmend going for the new iaudio when it is released.

maybe it is. http://www.advancedmp3players[....]oduct_info.php?products_id=684
