Unbranded z800i Not Working With Sony Ericsson Update Service |

Hi,
Ive got an issue with the Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) not working with my z800i.
After going through a whole heap of hassles to find and buy an unbranded z800i, it now doesnt seem to work with the SEUS.
My z800i is an unbranded phone with a generic asian CDA102371/101 R3A CDA number so technically it should work with the update service.
My computer, software and cables are all configured correctly however the update service wont work.
I get the following error message:
Your device is not permitted to use this service
Your operator does not approve the use of this service with this device.
We look forward to assisting you again soon.
Thank you for using the Sony Ericsson Update Service!
My phone isnt network branded so I dont understand why it doesnt work.
Could someone please tell me what to do to enable me to update my handset.
Thankyou

hi,
Do you mean that there is no SEUS up and running yet, although there is a webpage for it?
The webpage ( http://www.sonyericsson.com/s[....]3_2&zone=ps&lm=ps1_1&pid=10235 ) allows you to go through all of the steps but shows up with an error.

Is it a handset that was previously branded & has just been flashed? e.g. is it really a V800 with Z800 f/w?
If so the IMEI number will still identify it as a V800

There is no service yet for the z800i. Did anyone here do the smart thing, not speculate and simply call SE and ask them like I did? Only took 2 mins, 11 seconds to get an answer.
Just made another call. They are putting up the sites in various languages. The Finnish site was one of the last.
The current version is: R1AB014. Just verified this from the DaVinci server.

The response from Sony Ericsson
"Thank you for contacting the Sony Ericsson Call Center.
Please contact your network provider about this issue as the error state that they do not allow the update service to be performed on the handset. You will need to speak with your provider further about this issue."
I dont understand what theyre on about.
Its an original z800i and its got nothing to do with the network operator. |

I emailed them back and told them its an original unbranded z800 so its got nothing to do with my network provider.
I'll see how I go and post back the response. |

A post from another forum. Pardon the vocabulary as its from an international site.
"when u connect to SEUS server... the server will start reading your Z8ooi(unbrand) info. at the same times... they will verify your internet connection from which respective country.
when they come to read your Z800 country code... it seem they can't match your internet country ip with your phone IMEI country code.
that's the reason why they said u do not have permission to update."
Is this true? If it is, it seems like I have to go back to malaysia to update my handset. strange as the handsets got generic asian firmware and a cda.
I thought the SEUS worked irrespective of the country you were in.
Can any users confirm with internationally bought handsets working with the SEUS in their home country.
Thanks |

Is there any way you can call the Finnish tech support? They are very good and they have direct access to the Swedish site. The number is: +35892992000.

It might be a bit expensive calling from Australia.
SE support in Aus isnt great as its re routed to a call centre in india.

I feel your pain dude. I feel your pain. I can simply imagine. It is a case of, "I am sorry sir. Please visit your local SE service center or your dealer".
