The first product Motorola started to develop was a record player
for automobiles. At that time, the most known player on the market was Victrola,so the called themselves Motorola.

i beleive motorola also own the license to 13 out of 15 parts needed to make a digital mobile phone work.
so weve all got a bit of motorola in every phone we ve used |

Motorola also used to make microchips. They made a fair bit of money from the Motorola 68000, a little chip that just happened to be the CPU of the Commodore Amiga, one of the most (in)famous and best selling home computers of all time.

A Record player ? i thought they started with manufacturing car radios, so from Victorola to Motor-ola
edit : yup, i was right, Their first product was a battery eliminator when their company was named Galvin Manufcaturing Corporation and then changed their name to Motorola when their car radios became commercially successfull
