Xp was cracked long before release..
It seems to be rare that software gets released now that it isn't
Mind you, I have a friend that does administration for alot of local internet cafes, the sad thing is he has to goto crack sites for ligitimate oftware simply to get no cd fixes.
You're damned if you do and you're damned if you don't it seems.

It has NOT been cracked, there is workaround that involves cutting and pasting a single line of javascript into the address bar and clicking 'go' before you click on the 'custom' or 'express' install buttons to initiate the update checking process. It is not a crack as such because it is not a permenant fix, and has to be done each time you check for updates
This workaround still works, on my PC at least. But even more simple is to just turn on automatic updates and by-pass the web based validation checker altogether!

alternativly just go into internet explorer options and click on programs then go into manage add ons a list will appear scroll down and find an add on called windows genuine advantage.
hightlight it and set it to disable
now go to windows update and click on it you will get a flashing icon about activex just ignore it and 2 options will appear express and custom
chose custom and pick your updates |

Heh theres a few work arounds to this, 1 is to delete 1 file.
The other is to use automatic updates.
