I played with a P800 yesterday in the new carphone warehouse opposite John Lewis on oxford street.

They have it in a cabinet with the chatpen, the hbh-30 and a sony bluetooth digital video camera.

I used it for about 2-3 mins, before it crashed on me.
Its not as big as I thought it would be, and the keypad doesnt look that cheap, although I would remove it if I was to buy the handset.
I just had time to test out the digital camera viewfinder, which we all know is as smooth as a real digital camera.
The colour looked a little washed out compared to the 7650 that I saw recently, although it is nicer to have a bigger display.

There was a sign next to the p800 in the cabinet that said 'Available October'. I asked the assistant how much it would be, and he said it would be £250-300 with a contract.

The colour on the screen of the p800 seemed less vibrant than a Nokia 7650 that I used recently.

It may just have something to do with colour settings, or it may have been the light in the store.

The positives points were that its not that big (fits neatly in the hand), and that its out soon

May I ask if you were able to see how you sync your phone (mainly the pda aspects of the phone) with your computer. I am curious how you sync your mail and download attachments. Is there a stand that you place the phone on or a cable? I would be very disappointed if you did not have such a facility. Also, am apologizing in advance if this question has been previously answered its just that this site has become just so huge its hard to follow everything. Also, the one you saw, was there a memory stick duo it in? what did the uiq pen look like? is it flat, easy or difficult to hold? appreciate any other info you can provide. thanks

Good questions. The phone was in a cradle that seemed like the charger as well, just like the one on the 'connectivity' page of the p800 website. The cradle was white, not grey, with the green SE logo.

The stylus was short and flat, and is just 'ok'. I suppose they didnt have space to make it rounded like the palm stylus I'm used to. underneath where the stylus clips was a memory stick duo in the slot. I wanted to see the size of the MS duo, but I couldnt see a button to remove it.

I dont know what to make of it. I (like a lot of people) have been waiting for the p800 for a little while, but I can honesly say I wasnt as blown away as I thought I would be.

Ideally I would give up some of the features for a (smaller) successor to the T68. All I ask is an M-services compliant phone that has 65k screen, Java, bluetooth, MMS, big memory, 16 poly ringtones in a metalised casing, not plastic like a nokia.
SE probably won't announce the release of such a phone until CeBit next year.
2 phones fill almost all my needs that will be out in the 4th quarter, Sharp GX-10 (with built in camera),
http://www.compulenta.ru/2002/3/18/26884/ (its the clamshell phone, for those that don't speak Russian!
and the NEC 515 http://www.nec-cebit.com/press_detail.asp?press_id=23

I dont know the exact address of the CPW, but I can give you directions. If you are at Oxford Circus, and are walking towards Marble Arch, it is on the right side of the road after about 3 minutes. You can't miss it. If you see the department store 'John Lewis', you've missed it!

It was big, but not PDA big. It felt fine in my hand. The only time I noticed the size was when I put it to my ear. I have a HBH-10 that I use in the house, but I would probably use it outside as well if I got this handset.
