I know this is all over Esato, but have ready loads of posts and most of it goes over my head. So if you can please post any answers in lay-mans terms. Thanks.
A: I have my laptop windows XP SP2 with BT dongle (using Toshiba drivers) and want to use the remote control function on my K750 but can't get it to work, what do I need to do?????? My BT is working OK as I can connect to the internet or use MyPhoneExplorer.
B: Is it possible to do two things at once? IE: If I'm using my GPRS connection to internet, MyPhoneExplorer doesn't seem to work is there a way I can do both. Surf the net and use MyPhoneExplorer?

Sorry, I can't answer your 'B' question but I will try to answer your 'A' question.
For the remote control to work, you need to have your notebook access the Human Interface Devices service on your phone. I have got this working for on both my laptop and desktop with both the k700i and k750i so the steps should work for you too.
1) Make sure BT is turned on on your notebook and phone.
2) Find and click the 'My Bluetooth Places' icon on your desktop or system tray
3) Select Bluetooth Setup Wizard from the left hand bar
4) Select the 1st option : "I know the service I want to use and I want to find a Bluetooth Device that provides the service"
5) On the next screen, select 'Human Interface Device" from the list of services
6) Now your laptop will search for devices in range (remember to select Show all devices)
7) A few more clicks and it should be done!
Now all you have to do is turn on your Remote Control from the K750i's entertainment menu and select remote control. Make sure the BT link is established.
Good luck!

I don't understand why Windows seems to make this so hard. There are literally dozens of threads asking how to get Bluetooth HID Remote Control working...
On my Mac it just works. Never had to configure anything after originally pairing the phone. I just go to Remote Control on the phone, choose the app to control and it connects and works.
Why's it so different on a PC? Is Bluetooth really so much different between Macs and PCs?

Got it working now. Think it was a driver problem. I uninstalled the drivers I got with the dongle and let XP install what it wanted, works fine now. Although I do have to try and remeber how I setup my GPRS conection as I have lost that.
But hey the remote control works |

Hi, you can also use Toshiba drivers for HID connections, I have a level1 BT v2.0 dongle using Toshiba software and it works without problems.
For creating a HID connection you need first to turn on BT on both devices (mobile+laptop) then double-click the BT icon on the WinXP task bar (this comes with the Toshiba installation, it's red if your BT doungle is unplugged, green if plugged in and active) and create new connection>advanced mode, then your BT manger will search for the BT devices, select your phone, give the same 4 digit PIN code (i.e. 8888) on both devices (mobile+laptop) and after that they will see each other, confirm you want to add the device to your BT list on the phone. After the recognition you can choose between different services as "dial up" "serial port" or "mouse & keyboard" this last one uses HID profiles and is what you need to activate and follow on the windows question and then is saved.
Ready.
Everytime you want to use HID, just connect your USB dongle on your laptop, open BT manger, activate the previous connection profile made (with a keyboard&mouse icon by doubleclick on it) and it works!
When you don't wont to use it anymore go again in the BT manager, right-click on the same previous icon and chose from pop-up menu>disconnect.
Ciao!

I forgot to tell that I also have WinXP SP2 and with Toshiba software you can create more than one BT type connection (i.e. HID and COMport) and you can activate both at the same time:
this means that you can use 2 things at the same time i.e. file transfer + winamp HID remote control...

aldrew, make sure bluetooth power saving on the phone is turned off (bt power save mode allows only one concurrent bt connection) |
