750i - can't get the update to initiate. |

Hi all,
I have done a search but I'm clearly not finding what I need - I've a 750i with the original firmware, which I'd like to update. I've done the updating of drivers and USB web drivers and installed the Sony phone sync software, all to the last instruction.
Problem is - everything runs but when I get to the point where you have to hold the "C" key down and plug-in the phone, the PC beeps a few times and the software doesn't proceed. It just sits there. Like for an hour, if I let it. I presume I should hold the button down until it starts - unfortunately the phone just boots and start-up. It never really initializes. The Install USB Device screen never comes up anymore...it just beeps a few times.
I've turned-off the Windows firewall.
I've updated to the latest Java.
I've reinstalled the drivers.
I've tried the USB ports in the front and the back of the PC.
I'm stuck. Anyone been down this road before? If there's a thread, can they point me to it?
Thanks... |

Have you installed the latest USB-drivers, making the phone act as a flashdrive? Otherwise the update won't work...
If not, see posts about this...

Yup - I've done my homework on that. It pops-in and mounts in My Computer as the removable disk D. The problem is likely not that.

I've got exactly the same problem, so will be interested to find out if anyone knows the answer.
And yes, I have got all the latest version of the software and drivers. |

I had the same problem when updating from R1J to R1L (R1A to R1J was fine). Eventually resolved it by switching the phone off, removing the battery, re-inserting the battery and re-trying. |

And to add insult to injury, it seems the camera isn't working anymore...**sigh**.
Slide the little door open, the camera works. Press the button, a green dot in the opt left corner and no shutter - it just jumps to the menu.
Feh. Time to go back to the stupid store... |

Are you sure you have gotten these drivers?

No, When i hold C for it to get detected as a flash drive, it stays as it for 5 secconds, then boots the phone, so it gets detected as k750, and not flash, so i cannot do it :S
DOes anyone have any ideas? |

Similar problem to Storm; holding the C key only boots the phone up. All the drivers have been reinstalled, and I've even been working from a fresh laptop today, just to see if it made a difference. It just never, ever begins the update process... |

I tried to update my phone last night.. It started and when it came to 2% it suddenly failed. I didn't do anything for it to fail...
Tried to turn it on but nothing happens..
Also tried the restore function on the update site, but it can't detect the phone anymore...
Any one had any similar probs? Do I have to send it in? |
