NOKIA handset + EDGDE enabled of highest class...in India!!!
Hi mobile geeks (as well as computer geeks)...
I am planning to purchase a NOKIA handset very soon may be in next 4-5 days...
WHAT I WANT:
a. MOST IMPORATNT MUST FEATURE:
The nokia handset must be EDGE enabled (not merely GPRS) and that too of highest class (those who r aware even EDGE and GPRS are of various classes like 3,4, 10 etc etc) available in India.
The above is the most important feature required and may be the only feature required apart from being bluettoth enabled.
b. Preferably (second requirement: imporatnt but not MUST):
bluetooth enabled.
MISCELLANEOUS:
All other features whether they r there or not does not matter to me in any way...if they r there good...if not no regrets....
As u must have understood I am planning to use internet access on computer through mobile office airtel through Nokia EDGE handset.
Please advice considering that two features
a. EDGE of highest class in India...AND
b. Bluetooth
must be present and COST should be minimum for above two features.
Rest features do not matter at all.
But yes if by spending more say rs 1000 or say rs 2000; i can get substantial other features than what i want...then please advise that also...
My budget is quite quite flexible but want something around rs 8000 - 10000 maximum (although its flexible and can be increased)...

Also which bluetooth dongle and bluetooth enabled headset is best...???? for the headset advised above by you..??????????

I second the 6680/6681 vote. Great value if you want Bluetooth & EDGE class 10 along with Symbian OS in the form of Nokia's GUI Series60. A smartphone.
But if you dont want a smartphone - check one of these puppies out - and you just need EDGE class 10 and bluetooth. You cant go wrong with 6230 or 6230i; the latter has a higher screen resolution but essentially the same phone. Both will also allow you to use MMC card for photo shots and for MP3's. |

To get the 6680, you'd have to almost double your present budget.

i totally think that for your budget the nokia 3230 for 14k rs is ideal . . .try it out

For airtel mobile office,i regret to tell you that.The EDGE SPEED IS A MYTH.I am using nokia 6630 with airtel mobile office.But i have never gone beyond 20 kbps.If you want internet,get a broadband connection or reliance r connect card.It is the good option.I would say.EDGE IS COMPLET DISAPPOINTMENT ON SPEED.This is told to me by airtel engineer only. |

How about the Airtel GPRS/EDGE data card that they have released now ??? |

Same about the data speed.Only thing is that you dont have to carry the phone with laptop. |

@Dr.P, hows it hanging?
The engineer you spoke to, did he mention what code of MSC the Edge network was enabled with? Im not sure what the population there is, but here in Canada we get sick speeds. Even with heavy traffic, i see a full 108kbps almost max of what my 6620 is getting.
The engineer would know more about the network you mentioned. Just wish you guys would benefit like myself here when it comes to Edge. |

Hi prom.With in built connection manager of the phone,i check the speed of the connection.I never get that speed mentioned by you.I will ask him in next few days about the thing.Also how to check whether edge is enabled by the phone? |
