Hey guys,

I just this morning recieved a refurbished K500i from Virgin mobile, and I am in love with it. Except for one thing. I popped the battery/sim out to copy over some numbers from an older Virgin Mobile sim, which worked fine. When I replaced my new sim and re-assembled the phone, It refuses to boot. The screen flashes on and off in 1 second intervals whenever I attempt to power on the phone or charge it, and it jsut keeps doing that.

I've searched this forum and others thoroughly and even tried everything on the SE support site, including cleaning the battery contacts and whatnot, but it appears I'm the only person on the interwebs with this problem.

I suspect it may be firmware related, though I don't own a data cable or other type of connection device for this phone yet.

Both Virgin and SE are taking their sweet sweet time getting back to me. I'm twitching. Please Help.

If you are able to get hold of another battery...at least we'll be able to ascertain whether its a battery problem or phone/firmware issue

Yea, they're pretty cheap on ebay. I'll see if I can take it to an SE vendor first, though.

Thatd be the best thing to do....test it at an SE vendor to ascertain what the problem is before you spend and unnecessary money...and do post your findings here

Well here's my update; Virgin could not replace the phone for me since they are out of stock. When enquiring as to wether they can repair it for me or not, they said they may have to charge for it. Bit of a cheek really.

Anyway some guy at work knows a bit about SE's and said the same problem arose for him before when he accidently dropped it (not even a bad drop- about 3 feet onto carpet). Since my phone was refurbished it may be safe to assume the previous owner enjoyed using it as a basketball.

Thankfully the Carphone Warehouse conduct free repairs on phones which are still under manufacturer's warranty (even if not purchased from them), so they're taking a look at it and will have it back to me within a couple of days.

They also offered to upgrade my phone software and offered me a 'courtesy phone' at a £50 deposit, which will be returned when the repairs are complete. Nice chaps.

Keep those reciepts people, peace.
