newbie help - flashing an Aussie Vodafone k750 |

hi all
I'm new around here so be gentle
I've tried to read and digest all the info on the davince stuff, but there's just too much
was wondering if someone more knowledgable could help me out. want to can the vodafone customisations, make the phone stock and set the CDA (I think this is right) and software versions to generic SE ones for the k750.
I read in one of the posts that if you select the correct generic version for your region, it won't revert back to Vodafone if you update from Sony Ericsson. If you select another region, however, it cross references the IMEI number and you get your vodafone back! (no thanks)
so... I was wondering if someone could help me lose the vodafone junk and update the software, etc. I have no idea where to start, but this is what comes out of the service menu:
R1L002
prgCXC1250035_EU_2_CL R1L002
ITP software version:
CXC 125 932 R1B
Customization:
CDA102338/31 R17A xcx125953 R1L002 VFE_2
Content version
PA19
I'm sure this is too much info, but if someone can point me in the right direction with regard to getting the generic phone software onto my phone, I'd be most grateful - especially so I can update straight from SEUS in the future
thanks in advance

the only way that you can debrand a k750i is by using the davinci software. this is not free. you can download the updated firmware for free, but to flash the software to your fone (and change the cda code which i'll get to in a moment) you need to buy a credit on the davinci site, which costs 10 euros - about $16. buy a davinci credit (called a log account) on their website via paypal and they'll email you a username/password so you can flash your fone. be careful tho, each flash = a credit.. so you want to get all the settings right the first time!
once you've got a credit, go to the davinci site, download the k750i usb flasher drivers and extract the zip file to your desktop. then turn your fone off, hold down c and plug it into the usb cable. windows will detect a new device but wont have the drivers, refer it to the files on your desktop. once the driver has been installed unplug your fone from the usb cable.
then go to the davinci site and download the k750i client software. you should also download the new firmware for the fone as well. this can be found at http://www.gsmunlocker.net/k750/ - the files you want are K750i_R1L002_MAIN_EU_EMEA.DVT (main file) K750i_R1L002_FS_EU2.DVT (fs file).
extract the k750i client to your desktop and load it up. put your username/password in. select the main file and fs file. check the boxes next to each file and check the finalization box. then, click the button that says CDA. you want to change the cda code details to this:
CDA Number: CDA102338/38
CDA Revision: R6A
Model: K750i
Language Variant Name: EUROPE_2
a cda code is a bit like a the region codes on a dvd. if you want to update the firmware using the SE updater (which i'll get to in a minute) then the SE updater checks your cda code to make sure it gives you the right firmware. because updating the firmware would wipe off all the optus zoo crap, optus has their own unique cda code which means that when you go to the SE updater and try to update it checks to see if there is any new optus zoo firmware and tells you no there isnt, and you can't update. so, if you change the cda code to a generic code as above you can use the SE updater in future to update your firmware when new revisions are released.
with the cda codes in check the box to use these codes for finalization. then hit the flash button to go back to the flash tab again and hit flash. then turn your fone off, hold down c and plug it into the usb cable. the davinci program will then change your cda code to the generic one and update your fone with the latest R1L002 firmware. (my optus fone shipped with the R1J002 firmware). after about 3mins of copying files it's done.
the flashing process will wipe all of your fone's settings including any fone numbers stored on the fone. back them up before you update. it will not wipe anything on the memory stick.
that's it, done!
if in the future you wish to update the firmware you can do so for free via the SE site. go to sonyericsson.com, click on support, click on global support area, select k750i, select Sony Ericsson Update service and go from there. you have to download a ~18mb program for it to work but it's all pretty straight forward. ensure you have any firewall and/or popup blockers disabled otherwise it won't work.
hope this helps some of you!

I'm currently having a little difficulty getting mine to work :
When plugging my phone in, turned off and with the C button turned down, the phone will turn itself on after about 10 seconds.
Phone is a Vodaphone branded handset, and I'm runing XP SP2, USB ports are onboard on a MSI K7N2 Delta-L mobo with USB2 drivers. Autoplay has been disabled.
The drivers I installed when connecting the phone for the first time were the K750SWDrivers. I had to use the "Have Disk" option and select k750bus.inf, as Windows seemed to think it was not a driver for my device. After that Windows automatically popped up windows asking for the location of all the other inf files in that directory.
Have I installed the wrong drivers? Should I have used the ones in USBFlash.zip? I was under the impression they were phone general and K750SWDrivers.zip was the same for the K750.
Also, if anyone tries getting the flash files from http://gsmunlocker/k750 and gets redirected to the Davinci Team site, you can also get them from http://www.seuniverse.com/sonyericsson_files/ (official Davinci Team alternate file server).
Thanks in advance for anyone who lends a hand!

Edit: Looks like I've solved my problem. I installed the K750 drivers instead of the ones from USBFlash.zip. Used anotehr pc and put USBFlash ones on and it worked a treat. Hooray!
