Following on from a previous post I have pretty much decided to trade my 6630 against a new Orange SE K750i tomorrow. Those icons look dire but at least all the functions are there and am getting a good deal. I am a bit concerned about this standby bug and do not know how long this dealer has had these phones for. Can someone please advise me the best firmware to look for and the best week of manufacture to look out for to get the best chance of avoiding a problematic handset.
Have to say it is really annoying because I really want the phone but feel that am taking a bit of a gamble and could end up with a brick....have read some feedback on here from people whose K750's have been crashing every hour....that would drive me nutty!
Any help, advice or guidance would be appreciated. I know the dealer so am able to check the firmware etc before purchase. Thanks all!

just use the davinci flasher to unbrand it and update it to the latest firmware.

Er yeah, I know that is an option but do not really want to do this. The Orange branding doesn't bother me in the least but I do not want any major bugs. Is it not madness that you buy a new product and have to 'correct' it yourself because it doesn't work properly?
All I really want to know is what firmware is now stable and has got rid of the standby bug....if the phone hasn't got the necessary firmware already installed I will stick with my reliable Nokia.
How strange that I want to buy a SE cutting edge handset but I feel worried about it not working correctly....SE can chuck all the bells and whistles on a phone as possible but if the thing crashes every hour I aint buying it!

I work for an orange retail shop and to be honest with you, we haven't had any of the handsets returned to us with a standyby fault. I have an orange k750i and have had no problems with it whatsoever, most of the reported faults haven't affected me or anyone else that i know how has the k750i bought from orange.

I've got an Orange K750i - had it for several weeks with no problems at all. Originally had R1A firmware which I updated via SEUS to R1L. I say go for the K750i and check what firmware version is on it - update to the latest unless you're particularly fussed about video quality.

BTW how do you check the week of manufacture?

With R1L its pretty stable, I sometimes get crashes when I enable / disable bluetooth but no standby crashes.
