Hi all

I've searched and can't find an answer to this specific problem so I hope someone can help.

I'm on R1A with O2 and have had no bug issues so I've been really lucky, until now!

75% of the sms text messages that I try to send, either as "Write New" or "Reply" don't get sent. I still get the spinning envelope and stamp animation but after a couple of seconds I get a tone and a sending failed message comes up on the phone. My sms is then either automatically saved in "Drafts" or I'm asked if I'd like to save it there.

If I then try and send it again it seems to go through most times but can still fail again as it did the first time.

Any ideas please?

Thanks

This is a common fault on this version of software.

Heres the fix.

If you dont want to update the software.
Leave the phone switched on and remove the battery Wait 15 seconds and replace the battery. none of you settings will be removed and you wont loose a thing.
This is only a temp fix so the fault will return.

Other wise update the software on the phone to the latest firmware which is R1L. This resolves Network issuses with calls and sending sms failures.

Hope this helps

Thanks Darren I'll give it a go.

I don't really want to upgrade my firmware if I can help it because everything else is working so well and I've read that the camera quality is not as good on the later versions.

If this 'fix' can last me a few weeks before having to do it again then that may be good enough for me.

Strange that I tried the search but returned no info about this being a common fault.

Cheers mate

Do you have a branded or unbranded k750 ? The earlier o2 branded k750's had this problem. Over the past couple of days o2 have been having service problems (so they said when i contacted them earlier) with their sms service. My unbranded k750, s700 and o2 branded k500 have all had the failed prompt over the past 3 days. The battery thing is just one method of sorting the problem (although rather pointless). A far easier way is to edit the phone number in the reply so instead of starting +44 it starts with 0

Cheers Rookwise I'll also edit my numbers and revert them back to 0 then.

Just noticed your location, I'm across the border in Newcastle.

Thanks for your help.

Steve, it's a long shot, but has worked on some mobiles other than SE... Try setting your msg memory to phone and not mmc. It may help...

It is indeed. My office is on King Street, next to The Victoria Pub which can come in handy!!

In the end my problem was solved by ditching the +44 so thanks for the tip neighbour.

Thanks also to Darren for the battery tip.

You'd think o2 would send out an email or a service txt message to inform their customers. Thank god I didn't panic and upgrade from my trusty R1A!
