Sorry if this has been asked before. Can anyone confirm that the W800 headset will have a 3.5mm jack by the mic so any earphones can be used?

Yep.
3.5mm jack is there just after the MIC/Answer button on the stereo headset.

.. but that would have taken too much internal space up inside the phone.
Remember the W800i is a rather small phone, SE are struggling to fit everything including the high quality 2mp camera inside such a small form factor.

It also means you retain your handsfree and don't have to keep it in the pocket if you use it. (I use mine all the time)

Yes you can. If you have the adapter below.
This is apperently the 3.5" adapter that comes with W800. Its called HPM-70 and can be bought separately to be used with K750 as well.
