Sony Ericsson currently offers just the P series ( P800/p900/p910) smartphones....although there is talk of more that are to be launched in future, but no details yet.....what exactly are you looking for in a "smart" phone??
 t610 > k700i > p800 > p900 > p910 > k750i > I-mate Jam > Blokia 6681 > HTC Prophet > HTC Wizard & Nokia N73 > E71 > BB 9000 > HTC Desire > Samsung Galaxy S > Samsung Galaxy S II & the Motorola Xoom <br /> Still Shiny but not so n |

Why it is called "smartphone" in nokia 60 series like 3230 and non-smart like k750i , although k750i is much superier than 3230 ,
Why ?

EDGE has nothing to do with it. It's called smart because of it operating system cause u can use many programs unlike the java k750i. But saying that i still love it.

Actually a smartphone is a phone that has an os that can use a lot of aps like ones to automatically lock the keypad. :-p

A smartphone is classed as a smartphone when it has an open ended operating system.
Basically, it means applications and games can be written specifically for the phones operating system, rather than using a secondary platform like Java or Mophun. The phones functionality can be expanded upon in a much more complex way than a none smartphone.
The K750i is not a smartphone, and you couldnt make it one (unless SE updated the phone to be one through the online update, but thats never going to happen).

Thats not going to happen because is impossible ! The K750i does'nt have the hardware (ie micro chips) A smart phone is like a pc.Pretty dumb till you install the applications you want to use.My old 7650 is almost 3years old but it does more things than a brand new and working k750i ex try ftp uploading/downloading from your k750i ;-) . Greetings from South Africa.

Smartphones allowed you to use mobile java softwares to extend their functionalities. Some smartphones are more or less like a computer in your pocket.

That is a very very very incorrect answer. Its a common misconception that because a device isnt something the manufacturer intended it to be, it can never be it.
The fact is, the K750i has everything it needs to be a smartphone, minus the open ended OS. If someone were to write say, a cracked version of windows mobile or their own smartphone OS and interface, it could be possible to install it on the K750i by overwriting the phones firmware. Whether it would work or not would be down to how well it was written for the K750i.
Its doubt it'll ever happen, but to claim its impossible is just plain ignorance. I think it was only last year some pc geek managed to install a diluted version of Linux onto his Palm PDA.
However the point is, if you need a smartphone, buy a P910i, its probably the best smartphone money can buy minus the VGA camera - better than any Nokia smartphone too IMO.

Firstly I do program C/C++ for almost 20 years now.I wrote a number of subroutines for my old 7650 to make my life easy.Now the operating system of a normal cellphone is almost impossible to read/understand and because of copyright issues the cell companies does't want the public to 'hack it'.Some routines for the K750i may well be written in C++ but the overall linking knows only god,satan and a few SE ingeniers.Also the hard wireing must be obviously done the 'right way' to support what the software expect to find.A palmtop is already a 'smart' device,hence it can be reprogrammed to use any other operating system ! A K750i does'nt have a operating system as such.Only a few routines executed according to the keys depressed.It may sound the same as a operating system driven device,but trust me is a huge difference buddy.

@mario
then how can you explain the linux os that was modified to work on the ipod? i suppose mac engineers follow similar routines to se when they program devices |
