k750i / Gmail / O2 |

I've been having trouble setting up my k750 to send/receive emails from my gmail account. I'm currently on an O2 contract.
Here are the settings that I'm currently using:
Connect using: O2 GPRS* (I set this up myself - the settings are listed further down)
Protocol: POP3
Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
Incoming Port: 995
Encryption: TLS/SSL
Mailbox: Ja_ieWi_der (I've removed two letters there to avoid spam)
Password: ******** (I'm not telling you that either )
Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing Port: 465
Email Address: Ja_ieWi_der@gmail.com (again, I've purposely missed out two letters)
*Data Account settings:
Type: GPRS
APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
(These settings were taken from here)
I should also point out that I've setup POP3 access in gmail and can send/receive from Outlook.
----
Whenever I try to Send/Receive under these settings, the 'Finding Server' message appears for about 15-20 seconds, and then I get the following error:
"Connection failed. Check network coverage or data and internet settings."
The signal is pretty good whenever I try it so I don't think this is a problem. I do seem to remember reading something about a firmware update disabling GPRS on O2 phones but I'm not sure if that issue has been resolved - I'm using firmware R1J002.
Apoligies if I've missed out any critical information, but can anyone see what the problem might be? |

Hi,
I too am having problems trying to configure my Gmail account to my new Ericsson 750i.
Settings I've applied as follows:
Connect Using: 02 Mobile Web
Protocol: POP3
Incoming Server: pop.gmail.com
Incoming Port: 995
Encryption: TLS/SSL
Mailbox: Myaccount@gmail.com
Password: Mypassword
Outgoing Server: smtp.gmail.com
Outgoing Port: 465
Email Address: Myemail@gmail.com
Download: Headers & text
Copy Outgoing: Off
Check Interval: Off
When clicking sending and receive, I get an error message of "incorrect username or password). I have changed my password to make it something simple only using the letters rather than combined letters and numbers and still get this error message. I have checked the username over and over to make sure there wasn't a spelling mistake and triple checked the new passwork which has been changed on gmail itself but still no luck!!
If anyone can help with finding a solution to this problem, I would be extremely grateful as it's not beginning to do my head in!
Much appreciated!

EllieBabes, was the '02 Mobile Web' data service already set up on your phone or did you have to put it on yourself? If you did, then do you use the same settings as I mentioned...
Type: GPRS
APN address: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: mobileweb
Password: password
...?

Somehow I've got it working but I'm not sure what I did :S
I attempted to download the O2 Active settings from here (I selected the k700i despite having the k750i) and then attempted to send a text message (which prompted me to setup something-or-other).
Anyway, after that I typed in all the gmail settings again and it somehow worked
(PS. Sorry about double posting, but when I tried to edit my previous post, it said I was banned..?!) |
