V600i Debranding (to K600) |

Hi
Does anyone knnow whether a V600 (Vodafone branded) can be debranded? As it is virtually the same phone can it be flashed with the K600 firmware (in the same way the V800 can become a Z800)? Has anyone done this? Although it sounds as if it should be possible, I can find no evidence of anyone having done it!
Have just bought a V600 and I think the branding will annoy me a lot...

I was just going to ask the same question. I have e-mailed King Mobile Phone in the UK and asked them this. I'll let you know as soon as I get a reply. |

It is not a question of 'if' but of 'when'. The K/V600 still has the old SE connector, for which the existing self-flashing infrastructure (Chinese T29 cable etc.) will work as usual. The K/V600 is still new on the market, so let the guys from Total MultiServer and DaVinci some time to adapt their software to it.
Meanwhile the K750 has allready the new 'Fast port' which needs different cables. I'm not sure, if there is allready a possibility for easy debranding that and other new SE phones. |

anyway, this is the firmware available at the moment on K600i (u are correct, guys...it's similar to the case on V800 or Z800...we debrand it by flashing the K600i firmware!)

why debrand?
(a) if it's Service provider branded ...say vodafone branded..
what u can do is
1) can't set mp3 as ringtones (unless it's downloaded from vodafone live) ...
2) can't set other GPRS / MMS settings (so even it's unlocked, u cannot send MMS or access to internet)
3) phone is slow!

I have a V600i that I just unlocked with an unlock code. I can set the GPRS settings and have used it with O2 GPRS and MMS perfectly well. I have not converted the phone to a K600i or debranded it. |
