I'm considering connecting a Palm Tungsten e2 to the Internet by using bluetooth and a Sony Ericsson V800.

The e-mail account is a plain old POP account (no SSL).

Is this safe or am I opening myself to easy hacking?

it will be as safe as you are checking it on your PC.

My concern is how safe the connection between the Palm and the phone is, e.g. whether someone will be
able to "break into" that connection and steal the data i'm downloading somehow.

I'm doing this almost everyday and so far nothing has been "stolen" from my connection between T|T3 & S700
