Hi,
I'm getting a K750i shipped to me and I was wondering if anyone knew a local dealer in Los Angeles who can flash my K750i to the W800 firmware. Any help would be great.
Thanks! |

Is it really worth flashing a K750 to W800 yet?

I don't know anywhere in the US but I can tell u that normal phone shops or service centres won't do it.

it's a big risk that a shop would do, let alone find the right w800 firmare version... BIG RISK Man.. don't be the first one to.. let other pros test if it would work...

No offense folks. It has been done by several people with no problems. I'm looking for a local dealer in the Los Angeles area, I'm not looking for a lecture.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Hi...what are the benefits in doing this...there is a person on ebay that does this in the LA area: email is fionachan328@hotmail.com
I just got my K750i and have talked briefly to them about the upgrade..but they really couldn't tell me any substantial benefits to upgrade to the 800 firmware... |

I actually went over to his place in Ventura and had mine flashed. It works great. First off, I believe the sound quality is bettter. Second, you can switch to a "music mode" without turning your phone signal on (kinda like a flight mode). 3rd, the music menu interface is very nice and much easier to work with.
I think the flashing to W800i firmware was definately worth it. And I can vouch to you that the guy in Ventura is totally trustworthy and will get your phone back to you as soon as possible. |

How much did you pay to get the firmware changed from K750i to W800i? Any bugs you have found? |

Yes you can. I did it (K750i->W800i->K750i) as I can almost guarantee that there will be trouble further down the line with a K750i with W800i-firmware...

The W800i firmware is still a very early developer version. While it works great for most people, it might be worth holding off for a while until the phone is offical released, that way there'll be some more offical, stable firmwares for it.
Having said that, I don't know anyone that's unhappy with the K750->W800i conversion.
