Voicestream not working with t68i wap |

I live in Portland, OR and have the T68m with Voicestream. I would like to get the T68i software, but VS just told me that if I have that done, the wap will not work. Anyone out there know why? It seems to work for other people in other states.

Not true. I have a T68m on Voicestream and upgraded to T68i software and everything works fine. None of the custom settings for Voicestream (data and wap) have been erased.
Question: Does anyone know if getting the phone "unlocked" will remove the customization settings that Voicestream put in? Right now a few things on my phone can't be changed... data and wap setting can not be changed or deleted.... in SMS settings, the option to select message type on send is missing. When I look under up the software version at the bottom it says this:
Customization MS
CDA 102059/169
R1A
Customization TAE

Anyone know how to remove these customizations? My phone is a T68m and it's been firmware upgraded with the T68i but has not been unlocked. Will unlocking my phone get rid of these customizations?
