I have been looking at the forums but none of it really shows the steps of creating and uploading of background pictures thru IRDA ... Hopefully any experts out there can teach me how to do this thru IRDA with my T68 ... It'll be good if u could tell me wat software I should download to do all this ... Thnx !

For Ericsson T39 it works like this: go to "settings"-->"display"-->"background"-->
"send my picture"-->"ir" (or: > 4 5 3 3 1) think it's the same procedure on the T68.
to recieve: go to "tools"-->"infrared port"
-->"on" this should also be the same on the T68 I think.

There is no CD included with the T68. Download necessary software from the Ericsson site.

Hi

First download the programs you need :

http://wap.sonyericssonmobile.com
Go to : software
choose: T-68
choose: MyPictures

here you will find 2 programs :
MyPictures
MobilePhoneMonitor

Download both !!

Install both on your computer.
-------------------------------------

One thing you do have to remember is that the IR speed should be set to 9600 kbps.
-----------------------------------------
ABOUT MOBILE PHONE MONITOR:
The MobilePhoneMonitor sets up the connection between T-68 and pc.
So the 2 devices can "see each other".

Once you installed MobilePhoneMonitor on your pc, you can see it in the windows controlpanel. You can also change the settings in there.
-----------------------------------------
When you then turn on the Infrared on the T-68,..a window will appear on the pc saying : T-68 is connected !.

A small icon for IR will appear on the windows screen,..double-click the icon,..now you will be asked : which things would you like to transfer via ir to the phone.
Just scroll through your pictures, and highlight the one you want to send to phone, and push SEND.

After a short transfer-time it will appear on the T-68. You'll be asked, if you want to "save picture". Press YES.
------------------------------------------

Another way to send picture to phone is :
once you have turned IR on, and the pc has told, that ir-connection is ON :

Right-click the picture you want to send to phone,..you should get a menu called :
"send via IR"
Use this, and the image will transfer to phone.

This is just another way to do this. Some get this option, others dont .
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------
-------------------------------------------

For making pictures you could use Photoshop, photopaint or another photo-program.
I use photoshop, and I use IR too.

Picturesize: 101 x 80 pixels.
Format : GIF in 256 colors or less.
not bigger than 8-10 kb (8000 bytes (8kb) are recommended)

In e.g. photoshop you can open any picture, scale it correctly to 101x80 pixels.
And in photoshop 5, you then use the "export file as : GIF"
In newer photoshop, you use: "save for...."

When you save/export a gif, you get to choose how many colors will be used.
Try with different numbers of colors,..the more colors you use, the bigger the picture will be in kb.
----------------------
Once you made the picture, you can send it to the phone by IR.
Leave the picture out on the desktop, and turn on the IR-connection.

Or you can import the picture into MyPictures program, and use the button called "COLOR DITHER". Once you have done this, the picture will have the same 256 colors, that the T-68 use.
Now send via IR.

Hope this helped a bit

better print it

jan
