Polyphonic ringtones in T68i a sw issue? |

So given the software updates we see lately for the T68i, would it be normal to assume that they come up with an update that supports polyphonic tunes or is it clearly a hardware issue? I know this falls into the "rumour" category (remember the 8bit / 12 bit colour issue someone suggested R2F supported?), but in any case I'd like to hear your views. |

Polyphonic ringtones use many sound channels concurrently (such as 8, 16 or 24 - depending on the make and model of phone). Normal phones use one sound channel for ringtones.
If you want polyphonic multiple channels, you will need a hardware upgrade.

unfortunately, polyphonic capabilities is a hardware issue. The tone generator MUST be capable of mulitple tones. So, this would not be possible via SW upgrade. |

Ok, ok.. just a little joke!

Normal Rtone = Single Tone generator
Polyphonic Rtone = External speaker |

Super G... what do you mean the T68i is technologically obsolete? Compared to what? The 7650? I don't think we should go down that road, considering the ONLY thing it has over the T68i is the screen..in terms of NEWER technology.

I mean that I start to get bored of everyone asking can we upgrade the T68i to this or that. It's a 1.5year old phone and it has some limits! But nobody seems to realize that. It's not superphone. It's technology is obsolete. I don't mean its GPRS -though 1 timeslot more in uplink would definitely be a plus, like on all GPRS Nokia devices, but this is quite a tough technical issue-, Bluetooth, etc, but the construction of the phone itself, its SW and HW architectures. Full point.
I know it might be hard to turn your back to your T68i -it might even get sentimental for some- but look ahead
