Emma is a concept smart mobile phone for a pregnant woman. The user, (the pregnant woman), captures foetus videos, pictures, heartbeat sounds and tangible movements with Emma’s hand-held ‘Ultrasound transducer’. The user can build a blog website and upload captured multi-media data onto the website with Emma to share her pregnancy and foetus information with other family members and friends.

Isn't that the average time we keep our mobiles these days before switching to a new model?

With all the uncertainty around the health risks concerning children and mobile phones would it really be wise to use a powerful radio transceiver so close an unborn foetus? Just a thought.

They must have thought of these issues beforehand.

Thats the gayest invention.
As innovative as it may be its practicality is really low. Because it would take 3 months for any progress to be seen, and that leaves 6 months of usefulness, and towards the last 2 months little change is noticable with such a small device. And it is bound to be really expensive if it is ever produced so 4 months of functionality isnt that great.

Actually it would be tremendously useful.
You could use it to determine whether the baby is 'breech' or in the correct posistion for delivery. It would also be useful to help the father to create an emotional attachment with the baby. For men, unborn children often don't seem real until they appear on a ultrasound scan.
My wife has just given birth to our second child (04/07/05), 14 months after the birth of our first. She has effectively been pregnant for nearly 2 years... she says it feels that way. That makes the phone useful for a significant period of time. Plus the novelty value of friends who become pregnant. They'll probably want to buy the used phone of you too!
It is a bit ugly though.
