Hey there,
My friend asked me if it's possible to upgrade memory in a K700i? As far as I know it can't be upgraded!
So I'll like to have your views?
ThanKx../

apparently motorola have a memory chip, the same as in the K700, thats used in the V620.. or something... and its possible to with the help of a soldering iron swap the chips... but its only a 64meg chip...
not sure if it would work...
id be curious to know if you suceed in doing that!!! |

Simple answer is no and leave it at that.
It's not worth soldering in new parts which will probably not work anyway but if you want to risk your phone to find out, go ahead!

Hey, why not connect a USB DataTraveler via the DCU cable (of cource with a help of a gadjet) and use a JAVA application to access that memory? It would be a great idea to have a dynamic large memory connected to your phone!
Unfortunately I don't have that much of a knowledge to create such a thing, but can give some help? I can use a soldering iron and do some developing? We can make an effort to make one- wouldn't it be nice?
What do you think guys?

But the K750i doesn't have a VGA camera! does it?
Anyway, since there is K750i, this'll be too much struggle! But for the people who'd like to do some experiments, and wan't to try something new- I think this is a go.

Get yourself a soldering iron and give it a go, just dont kill your phone.
Remember even if the memory upgrade were to work without killing the phone or the memory - theres also the question of whether the K700i's software would work at all, recognise the memory or even be able to use the extra memory.
The K700i might even work with the memory, but still only be able to use 41mb of it, because its not formatted to use anything higher.. ?

Chances are that it wont work. The software and underlying OS would have been coded to only initialise the memory avalable in the phone. The memory map would probably not allow for this extra memory either. |

VGA camera? I guess you are missing something. VGA cameras are 0.3 megapixel. K750 has 2.0 megapixel camera. That is almost 7 times better than K700 in terms of pixels. |
