K750i - Time to get Watchdog (consumer protection group) involved. |

I too am having numerous problems with my K750i.
In fact it seems everyone who owns one is enjoying the 'unadvertised product features' like:
- randomly crashing
- losing settings
- freezing
- and more!
Now if this phone was a car I've a feeling it would be removed from the roads due to 'unresolved safety problems'... however, it's not - but it is a consumer product that has inherent faults, bugs and many, many unresolved problems.
Sony Ericsson are still selling this phone despite the unbelievable amount of problems it has.
I see no reason why, we as consumers should be putting up with this.
I personally feel like I have been conned. I have brought a product that cannot perform as advertised and it is costing me time and money.
If you are interested in talking about the K750i and your experiences and wouldn't mind your opinions being offered to Watchdog (consumer protection group) please post below or post links to your posts that highlight any issues you've been having.
I'll start off with my correspondence to Sony Ericsson thus far...

Opinion: I've just received the K750i and although impressed with it's plethora of functions I'm not impressed with the delay I get when I try to take a photo... It's ridiculous. What's the point of taking a photo when you're capturing a picture thats a few frames after you click? It defies the point. I've asked for a replacement but if it does the same thing I'm afraid I'll be sending it back and moving to another manufacturer.

The phone is now freezing after bootup and cannot operate.
Marvellous.
I don't know how you get away with launching products with this many faults. It's also unbelievable that you can actually release firmware that 'breaks' functions. I mean why would anyone want to record video at a lower bitrate? It doesn't make any sense.
Can you confirm what the next firmware will do and what the version number is, and when it will be available?
I'm going to contact some consumer protection groups if this is not resolved soon and escalate this to a higher level.
Thanks |

well not the end of the world eh ha ha but they still need to address these issues it gives the others like nokia and samsung the opportunity to steal market share se have released some impressive phones but in the last four years havent moved in the maket share i think this will cause a huge problem for sony i think unless they sort this reliabilty issue and fast no one will buy them only the die hard se fans and unfortunately there cant be that many or se would have kicked arse years ago |

with the greatest of respect, BBC Watchdog are off the air right now, and they are not really worth bothering with.
They'll only take on your case if it suits and fits them - ie, a big story, where as this *may* come across to them as just someone with the latest phone moaning.
Also, all new electronic items have faults with them, even cars, however the number will be so small as to not be worth watchdog's bother. |

Got mine last Friday from O2. Works as advertised and have had no crashes. I think you have just been unfortunate to in that you got one of a bad batch. |

yeah there is always good and bad batches but they do need to get more good than bad in any case it would be more sensible to wait a couple of months anyway so software and bugs can be sorted and the price drops |

Can somebody please confirm if this is the case or not but surely SE are using the SE Firmware updates as just another chance to cash in!
Don't get me wrong I love my phone, but if you buy a new K750i for example - experience any of the problems previously listed and need to update the Firmware, do you then need to buy a data cable of some sort to do this?
I ask because I remember paying almost £20 for a DSS-25 cradle to update my K700i firmware. Why should I though when it's their problem and bugs etc............don't get me started on ipod's either!!!!
I'm aware of service centers and other outlets that may provide this service but often this is inconvenient.
If you're going through hell - keep going. |

No SE aren't using it to cash in...all of the update services so far have used the Supplied USB cable
SE is either skipping its testing or has made release date promises it can't keep and is releasing substandard product code
Not the first time....K700 and S700 were both buggy but the 750 has suffered more than most and i hope its not a sign of things to come... |

@bulti48 - I doubt it, because the K750i comes packaged with a data cable. Maybe they fore-saw this happening ... I dont know.
I feel its unfair that those people with working phones are being so flippant about the whole situation.
I just dont see how it can be a small percentage of phones when so many people are complaining about the same issues. Some people even having to exchange their phones multiple times.
I'm on my second now which is charging up as we speak, and I really hope this one is ok as so far I am impressed with the phone. But if this one turns out to have the same freezing problem, then its no more than an expensive paper weight. |

i think they give you a cable more for the pc conection i think but makes you think if they are just passing the buck a bit instead of them solving a problem they get you to do it a bit cheap of them i think if thats the case siemens have done it for a number of years now long before se did it but i cant remember them having as many problems as se the problem i thnk for them is they keep tyring to be on the market first they should think about all their problems before they release their phones |

First I would like to state for the record that I do reckognize the problems people are having, I do reckognize the bugs and the annoyment from them, and I do think it would be better if there werent any.
But, I also do think people are being a litle unfair.
Its absolutely common for all new advanced mobiles being released nowadays to have some initial bugs that needs 2-3 firmwares to fix, and when all the nokia/siemens/samsung/whatever loving S//E haters visit this thread to give their amount of bashing, they all completely overlook the fact that the same thing is happening for all other manufacturers.
I could start listing models from other manfacturers and their number of bugs and firmwarereleases, like Samsung D500, Nokia 6230/6230i, Siemens S65 etc etc etc, but ill spare you for now.
Development today goes fast, Competition today are so strong and marketingstrategies are so important that there are simply not time anymore to spend months and months on qualitytesting before release. This goes for all manufactures, S//E are no exception, neither in a good way or in a bad way. If they dont release in time, the buyers will go elsewhere.
Atleast S//E are doing alot to help customers unlike many other manufacturers, by adding free online update, include updatecables, creating new firmwares relatively fast etc.
The point Im trying to make, is that allthough its annoying, everyone should by now be aware of this fact and act accordingly. By this I mean, if you are not willing to live with initial bugs and wait for the first firmwares to come out and fix them, then simply wait a few months before buying the phones.
But no, everybody wants their toys sooner than the next guy, everybody screams and yells in the forums before release to hurry up and release the phones, cause they cant wait anylonger for them.
Also why go through the hassle of exchanging your phone several times, hoping the next one will be slightly better, getting a litle bit more annoyed each time, when all of them use the same firmware and more or less all errors are caused by and fixable through firmware.
Whats the point in watchgroups this and that, they wont change anything, the only thing that will change anything are the habbits of the buyers. If you absolutely cannot live with a few initial bugs, and you dont have the patience to wait for firmwareupdates while having the phone in the beginning. Then theres a very simple cure to all these problems, simply dont buy the phones untill its been on the market a few months and initial bugs have been fixed. Customers not buying the product are the only way to force manufacturers to spend the time on qualitytesting before release.
Endless whining in thread after thread after thread doesnt make any difference.
And neither does all the nonsense from those stating that only S//E have these problems.
