I heard it on the grapevine that it is possible to use the media player on the K750 (mp3's only) without the phone being turned on. Is this true? If so how the bloody hell will that work???
See i'm off to greece on tues and this would be a handy feature for the plane.

anybody try using the media player without a SIM? I would assume most features are locked, but it would be really easy to try.

An expired simcard could be used. In this way you will be able to use all features in the phone with all network signals turn off. It shouldn't be a problem using it on a plane.

Even though the sim is not valid the phone will still use its transmitter as you can use an expired sim to make emergency phone calls.

Btw, why exactly is the use of mobile phones not allowed on planes?

because the radio signal issued by/ to the phone can interfere with the radio signal of the information for the plane..or any other radio signals..!
try using your phone next to a cassette/CD?DVD player, or next to a radio!....it will show u the answer! |

So it's nothing to do but waiting for the release of the W800i.

Also try putting u're phone next to u're computer monitor when u make a call or when it rings and u'll see how much interference there is!
I don't think that one person using a phone in a plane would do much harm, but when u have 20 ppl out of 200 in a plane using their phones then u have a problem! |

Also you phone is booking in and out of networks as most planes fly about approx. 500 plus mph. Not to mention, how would like to be billed. Lufthansa will have GSM usage on their phones in the coming year. As usual the US will be about 5 years behind.
