In mediaplayer, select equalizer, select manual: increase all freq. to max, press done.
You get a neutral (flat) setting with much higher volume.

You can also increase the MP3 volume with the soft MP3gain.

This soft allow you to increase the db (decibel) of MP3 so instead of 90db you can up to 100db it's more powerfull

Doing as you said (increasing all frequencies to max) sends the quality to hell...
