Hi All,

To cut a long story short I managed to get the screen of my K700 completely knackered by accident recently. You would call a crack along the diagonal of the moby's TFT screen a sinister problem, right? Anyway, a techie at the service center quoted a price of around €90.00 (that would be around USD 70) for a replacement one -which unfortunately I see no other way around, but ending up paying the lot, since the guarantee doesn't cover such "issues".

I'm just checking with you guys to see if he's being truthful with the whole replacement price thing, cause when I first heard about the cost It kinda sounded a bit on the expensive side. This is supposedly the original SE screen -not that I care much about it but anyway.

On a sidenote, you wouldn't happen to know if I can get this thing replaced under warranty, would you? Here's how things took place. In a nuthsell the damn thing fell on the floor, I picked it up and apparently something that lied on the floor exerted pressure on just one side of the screen panel that made the thing crack (the interior TFT panel that is)...Now this was certainly not the first time I dropped the thing, but it sort of looked to me that it cracked fairly easily. Maybe the fact that I sent it off about a month ago for the service to replace the joystick had something to do with it? How possible is it to build a case on it and get away with the replacement cost?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi!

U are able to buy a lcd screen for the k700i at www.mytrendyphone.dk, but it seems the price is about the same for them both, just that you have to do all the work yourself.. However have I been you, I have bought a new phone instead.. Buy a k750i instead for paying alot for repairs..

I don't suppose I can get a new / used K750 for €80, can I? At this point I reckon the cost of the repair can be justified since this is the only costly issue I've faced with this puppet so far and my contract expires in October, so by that time I might upgrade to a new handset keeping my existing number.
