Pesky phone company’s doing my head in! |

I’m very near to the end of my contract (approx 30 days) and for the past 2 weeks near enough every day I get some company (free phone or some other name) phoning me up offering me a contract with a free phone blah, blah, blah.
Now I assume these people are nothing to do with CPW (who I took my o2 contract with), did the CPW pass on my number to other companies or something. This is really starting to p1ss me off, as in the job I do it’s a pain having nonsense calls.
Anyone else experience this kind of hassle from phone companies?
Also I always request that the free phone be a p910 which they never have and try and fob me off with a nokia suck arse phone (or a k700 which I got last year with the original contract anyway). The tossers!!! :

Yup, I get about 10 texts and 4 calls per month from these obscure companies offering me an upgrade.
The best thing is, they always start the conversation with 'Did you know that your contract is up for renewal?' when in actual fact my contract has about another five months to go!
I've asked a couple of them where they got my number from and, of course, the reply was 'I don't know'

when you sign a contract, theres a box to tick to say you dont mind xxxx passing on your details to their related companies. of course they sell this info in 'lists' on to 3rd party companies.
my advice is check the small print on a contract. and check your copy of it too...

Funny i've never got a text till today (assume its from one of these companies) saying "please call asap regarding your mobile phone handset on 01792410216".
I guess i should distrubute there number through out the world.
@batesie
Im sure (90%) i ticked that box for NOT passing on my info i always check the small print on everthing i put my sig to!
When i get home i'll have to have a look on my copy (if i can find it?)

Yeah, I got those calls too. My contract was up for renewal on 11th June and got half a dozen calls from someone on some obscure mobile number offering to save me money.
He said he could cut my monthly bill by half for six months whilst giving me less inclusive texts and minutes, then jumping back up to full price for the remaining six months.
I jumped at the chance - NOT!
Bloody annoying how they get your number yet O2 didn't so much as phone or text me once to offer an upgrade. |

Had another call (fourth call today and one text ) and asked the woman (they all seem to be ladies from up north for some reason ) where she got my number from, and was told the “national database” whatever that is.
The thing is I’m off to Portugal this Saturday for two weeks and if I keep on getting called by these w#*NkEr’s it’s going to cost me a fortune.

I had a call from someone offering me a new deal when my contract finished in 3 months time which I agreed to then the Cheeky wa*ker signed me up straight away so I had 2 Orange contracts on the go at once, plus they didn't even send me the new handset!!
