Charging K750i using bundled USB cable |

I experienced this wierd outcome the other day while charging my K750i using the bundled USB cable (DCU-60) and a 3rd party USB power adapter.
The battery was down to about 45% when I plugged in to charge overnite. However, the next morning when I looked at the battery bar, it indicated it was still charging. So I disconnected the cable from the phone and got the shock of my life, the battery indication was down to 4% instead of 100%...
Unfortunately I had to live without my phone for the day since I did not have the travel charger nor my notebook readily available. When I had my notebook handy, I plugged it into my USB port and it started charging normally (albeit longer). I thought it was a problem with my 3rd party USB power adapter but it wasn't coz I have a couple (both different manufacturers) and yielded the same results.
Is this normal coz it seems like it started a battery discharge process ? Has anyone encountered this before ?
Thanks. |

I have noticed that using the supplied DCU-60 cable my K750 wont charge past about 88%-90% when plugged into my pc.
As a regular traveller I've always used USB chargers for all my phones for the convenience factor, and never seen this issue before as all phones and other devices have always been fully charged from the same USB port

Thanks for your reply. On the other hand using the USB cable plugged into my notebook, I did manage to get it to charge all the way to 100% (but it was a very long charging process)...
My only problem is the fact that the battery doesn't charge when using the 3rd party power adapter with the supplied cable. Darn... and to top it off I can't get any accessories for the K750i here in Malaysia yet since its quite new... |

I have experienced the same thing with my K750i unit. I only plug it to the USB cable when transferring media files and photos to and from my PC and never to charge, as I only use the dedicated charger for "re-fueling". I have noticed that within 30 minutes plugged to the USB cable, the battery level on my K750i went from 92% to 85%. I freaked out, so now I avoid having my phone hooked up to the PC if not necessary.
By any chance, do you peepz know how to make the backlight on the K750i last longer. Mine stays on for 20 seconds and it automatically turns itself off. Any possibility on making it stay on for an entire minute?

I played with the idea of modifying the usb cable's (DCU-60) fast port to prevent it from charging the phone when its connected.
I tried to find a schematic diagram on Sony Ericsson's fast port but I couldn't find any (perhaps my google power is weak).
So I checked with the hand free's (HPB-60?) fast port and saw that it uses pins 2 to 9 while the charger (CST-60) uses pins 9 & 12. So it looks like pin 12 on the usb cable's fast port may be sacrificed to achieve the desired effect.
Any thoughts or ideas?
EDIT: I've done some experiments.
Covering pin 12 with a small piece of paper => Charging and seen as an unknown usb device.
Covering pin 9 with a small piece of paper => Blinks "charging" two times but no actual charging and it is not seen as a usb device.
